Imagine being Billy Gilmour who, despite living in a country where 81.5% of all adults have had one vaccine dose (and 57.8% have had both), is going to miss what potentially could be the last major tournament game he ever has the opportunity to play for Scotland in because he isn't ill.

An absolute nonsense. Fucking Lovejoys.

He isn't ill but he won't be able to play either. Whether or not he has symptoms it will impact his athletic performance.

Also the Croats aren't going to agree to play against an infected player either.

And you know this how?

You've come out with some amount of pish about this, but this is a new one.

SFA saying no close contacts. Relying on tests obviously which they weren't willing to do when it was screwing clubs rather than the national side.

Going to be a tad suprising if no one else in the Squad tests positive.

Any sort of autoimmune response to a virus is going to impact your athletic performance. It will effect cortisol production, max heart rate, oxygen levels and lactic acid build up. I'm not saying it would be impossible to play but it wouldn't be peak performance.

Better start testing asymptomatic people for influenza, then!

Flu may be a bigger problem than Covid this winter

Older people who have had Covid vaccines months ago are likely to need boosters along with flu jabsImage caption: Older people who have had Covid vaccines months ago are likely to need boosters along with flu jabs

Prof Anthony Harnden, deputy chair of the government’s advisory committee on vaccination, has been addressing some of the questions around Covid booster jabs.

He tells BBC Radio 4’s Today programme work is under way testing seven different vaccines for autumn boosters, to see how they might react with each other and with a flu vaccine.

The last point is important because he says: “Flu could be potentially a bigger problem this winter than Covid.”

With very, very low prevalence due to the UK’s lockdowns, flu immunity is likely to have dropped in the population and “it comes back to bite us”, he says.

But Prof Harnden says Covid boosters are also likely to be important for the elderly, most of whom had their vaccinations several months ago.

No decision has been made on vaccinating children against Covid yet, he says, but the focus is on second doses and covering over-18s.

“We need to think very carefully what the benefits are to children themselves,” Prof Harnden says.

Has anyone seen or heard of a plan for Self isolation if you test positive for Covid in the longer term future ?

I know they are planning binning isolation for close contacts but do we think the LAW will still dictate 10 days of self isolation for actually catching the sniffles ?

Maybe testing will just stop so no one bar hospital admissions will ever know ?

He's 20

Tbf its 23 years since the last one

Sure, but the point is that it's highly unlikely a 20 year old will be thinking that.  How many of us thought back in '98 we'd wait 23 years to play in a major tournament?

I’ve taken two tests (I’m unvaccinated) since coming back from London and both have been negative so far and I’ll keep doing it every so often for the next couple of weeks just to be sure.

In fairness the chances of me having it I feel are pretty low, unless someone on our train or at the pub we were at for the game had it then I reckon I’ll be sound, most gatherings were outdoors so doubt there’ll be many cases from that.

Having said that there were some weird racist, misogynist, homophobic bams from Falkirk sat next to us on the way home and if they didn’t have covid then they definitely had something worse than covid.

Oh and guess what club they supported.

Lmao 3 people I was with (albeit outdoors and only for an hour or so, but was up close to them getting pictures etc) have tested positive, PCR booked for 4:30, gonna be an anxious wait.

If it’s positive it’s positive, I’m healthy enough that I’ll be fine touch wood, be raging if I’m sat in on my tod for the game tomorrow night.

Billy Gilmour not having any close contacts.  Why do they not just tell the truth ? as that is simply bullshit and will set of all the Lovejoys again.
How is it bullshit given the definition of a "close contact" and the measures put in place to prevent such an occurrence. ?

Andy Robertson seemingly deleted a video of him and Gilmour playing ping pong. Can’t say I blame him deleting it, enjoying ping pong after a decent result. Deary me [emoji1787]
That itself wouldn't be an issue (assuming they weren't playing doubles [emoji12]) as they will have been more than 2m apart. Probably one of the few indoor pastimes permitted in their situation.

Hopefully the Croatia squad have seen it and refuse to take the field.

Guest Bob Mahelp

Stunningly, I actually agreed with that boot Hartley-Brewer this morning as she got stuck into Sturgeon and her pathetic decision to ban Scots from travelling to Manchester.

This is nothing more than political grandstanding of the worst kind, and it looks very much like an awful 'I'm in charge, look what I can do' attitude.

It's impossible to support Scottish government policies when they come out with lunacy like this.
