Popular Post Todd_is_God Posted December 22, 2021 Popular Post Share Posted December 22, 2021 The local pub / restaurant / function group put out a post earlier announcing that they had to cancel their hogmanay night (which is always fully booked) and offering those with tickets the option of swapping the value of the ticket for vouchers as well as a refund if they want it, which goes some way to highlight the cashflow issues these businesses are facing due to government advice / restrictions. They also, perhaps more soberingly, highlighted that if anyone wanted to, they could instead put the value of their tickets into a pot to be split between the staff who otherwise would get no wages. The SG have hung these places (and the staff) out to dry to play politics, and the £6k they have set aside for each business simply isn't enough. They do have a bit of logic for picking the number for all games. They have decided that folk going out the house is the problem so the way to fix it is to stop people having things to do. But they can't actually close much because no furlough so they hammered sport as hard as they can without actually being the ones that cancel it. That's great if you run a wee cafe with cheap food that isn't particularly busy, but anyone running a half decent busy restaurant will get a fucking week at best covered by that.
