Golfers will be in varying stages of the round. Some on the tee, some about to putt, some on the fairway after playing their tee shot. Everyone puts a tee behind their ball, walks off - then when clear, they all go back, replace the ball wherever they were, and when the all-clear sounds, carry on. Why can’t we employ the same sort of principal? Treat this as a ‘freezing’ of the season, then when allowed, pick up from the point the freeze was imposed? As I said earlier, ditch the League and Diddy cups from next season, somehow amend next season’s competitions to a shorter format, to allow for this season to be played out, albeit delayed, but still, played out. A lot of clubs will have players contracted until the end of May only - even finishing the season in the summer after a long break is going to be fairly problematic...

Every scenario is problematic, but surely, finding a way to finish this season should be a priority. All joking aside, despite Lennon being a total fanny, just calling this season null and void is an awful way to go. Awful for Celtic, Hearts, Liverpool, Leeds. Normally, the thought of those four clubs being well shafted at the same time would be glorious in its perversity.... but it just isn’t right. There simply has to be a way we can play the remaining fixtures. Even if it means a weird situation regarding the make up of the squads who actually play it out, because of contracts. It’s all problematic. Say the authorities did indeed play out the rest of this season in August for example. My own team are currently without the services of at least five or six recognised first teamers. They’d all be fit again for the ‘start up’. There’s simply no pain free solution to this.

Todd_is_God
These were my thoughts on Wednesday lunchtime "Suspending the SPFL, no relegations, and promoting the teams in the playoff spots would be a perfect excuse to trial a 16 team top flight. Promoting the top 2 in each of the HFL & LFL would drive the pyramid too." I still don't think it's a terrible idea either. Noone would have grounds to feel particularly hard done by (with the exception of perhaps Celtic), and we get a chance to trial a new concept next season. I'd retain a split as well to keep the number of games up. 6/8 would probably work better than 7/7, and relegate 2 / promote champions & winner of 2nd v 3rd (or go balls out 2 up / down & 14th playoff v 3rd). Review it after a few seasons. If it isn't working then reduce the number of teams again. Edited March 13, 2020 by Todd_is_God
Falcor Roar
They'll resume all leagues in few months behind closed doors and bin all cup comps and internationals for the next 12 months. Start the next season straight after. Voiding the league season brings about too many arguments. This lockdown on everything cannot go on too long anyway, the world economy would collapse.
pozbaird
BBC Alba were supposed to be showing the Killie v St Mirren game ‘as live’ at 6pm tomorrow. I think I might tune in to see their replacement programming - especially now that music gigs are being cancelled too.
DukDukGoose
I've mates who are Celtic fans and are genuinely great lads but turn in to a mess when discussing Celtic or anything Rangers related. They think if the season is declared null and void that it means they would win the title. This will be their 'new company not club' moment. Won't it? Normally, the thought of those four clubs being well shafted at the same time would be glorious in its perversity.... but it just isn’t right. You pay money to watch a sporting entertainment where your team has no chance of finishing champions, along with 42 other clubs purely because of money. And a nation full of bigots and glory hunters choose to keep it this way. Where the football authorities make every decision based around the needs of these two clubs, and the media and tv companies are only really interested in covering them, keeping them in the spotlight and making sure kids from all over the country grow up bombarded with OF stuff and jump on the bandwagon, perpetuating the whole thing. And you want to talk about this not being right? There's never been anything more right in Scottish football since rangers' demotion to the very bottom. Or hearts, going bust a couple of times yet getting to declare themselves bankrupt and write off millions of debt then start all over again ploughing millions into a new stand and a team full of overpaid dross? We're only allowed crumbs off the table in Scottish football, and all we have is the enjoyment of seeing other teams being shafted. There's some tough times ahead in the immediate future, with no football as a distraction. So just hope for null and void and get pointing and laughing with the rest of us!!

Archie McSquackle
I have to admit when the opening post was made I thought it was ridiculous over-reacting nonsense. Shows how quickly things can move in a couple of days and how little I know.
