Always felt like an Earth like planet with life is out there, but chances are so low that we'll find a planet not only with life, but with "intelligent" life, it'll be so far away that we're never likely to know because we're looking into the past.

Maybe got this all wrong, but when we look at the nearest galaxy (Andromeda), are we not seeing it as it was 2.5 million years ago?

They could be looking at our planet right now saying its in a "habitable" zone, but the planet is covered in ice due to an Ice Age so they just move on to the next planet while "keeping an eye on that one".

Never mind Andromeda.  There are between 100 and 400 billion stars in the Milky Way.  Some of them only a few light years away.

Distance is the biggest problem.

Voyager 1 is the furthest man made object from here and it is not even a light day away.  The moon is 1.3 light seconds away and it took a mammoth effort to get there.

Yeah I think there's too much distance/time involved for us to ever actually prove there's intelligent life, at least on a par with us, out there.

Reckon we'll hit a technological wall, then destroy ourselves, before it becomes feasible.

Does believing that the universe was created 6,000 years ago count as a conspiracy theory?

I'm never sure if they think scientists are lying, or just stupid.

According to the fundie with whom I once shared an office, they’re lying. They use faulty computer models and have no qualms about changing the findings to obtain the results they want.

Why?

To make sure they continue to receive government funding of course. Yet despite all their efforts they STILL haven’t been able to disprove the existence of God.

Your move scientists.

I think the Three Body Problem answered this question but deflected it on to aliens

Amazing work to get this far but a lot of unanswered questions most of all the radioactivity.

Man that's fucking grim. Especially the bit where GM leathered f**k out of literal corpses in the 70s to help research how to calibrate seatbelts. Ffs

Transhumanism is going to be a huge topic in the years ahead.

A lot of billionaires genuinely think they can live forever. If a smoking, drinking shagger like the Phil The Greek can make it to 99 with the current technology available then I expect Zuckerberg types will be around a lot longer than that.

Thousands of sightings of the sasquatch, with a high percentage from experienced professional hunters. They're all wrong though, it's just black bears walking around, even in the middle of winter when the furry fuckers are hibernating.

Thank you.

Yes, they are all wrong as Bigfoot doesn't exist.
