COVID-19 In Scottish Football

Not sure there is anyone twisting the rules.

All arrivals into Scotland from Dubai from Monday the 11th must isolate for 10 days, all arrivals from 3rd must isolate for 10 days from their arrival date.

Have Celtic been to Dubai and arrived back in Scotland since the 3rd?

YES but Celtic are exempt

Has John Kennedy admitted to protocol breaches in a news conference, all be it in his words "minor"?

YES

Have Celtic just announced had a positive COVID -19 test?

YES as have many other teams

Have the initial reports of the Dubai arrival isolation applying to "elite sports" now changed to a decision will be made sometime Monday as to whether it will apply to Celtic or not?

NO, Celtic were and will continue to be exempt

Not seeing much twisting of these facts, just discussion of them and lots of if/or/buts and conjecture.

Fixed that post for you.

You are welcome.

Exemptions will be contingent on adhering to COVID protocols during the entirety of the period you wish the elite sport exemption to be applicable for.

The Scottish government are quite rightly this morning reviewing what went on during this trip in light of photographic evidence and management admissions of protocol breaches, and if there is deemed to be a risk to public health then the exemption can be withdrawn and any or all individuals instructed to self isolate.

Aye, does Scott Allan not have asthma?
Hibs player catches it from Celtic player, then passes it to him, and his career is potentially over.
I'm surprised there's not been many, if any, players who have suffered long term damage from it yet. Seems to be accepted they'll all recover fine when odds are at least a couple will struggle.
I posted a lot earlier in this thread that St Mirren have a player who tested positive in October who is still suffering the effects of Covid.

The exemptions for “elite sport” are very specific.

Did Celtic use their trip exclusively* for the purposes of training? Clearly they didn’t.

*Apart from meals, sleeping, protocol-compliant downtime etc, before we have any Celtic fans trying to be smart.

Any Celtic player that plays tonight will have two negative tests since coming back from Dubai.

Safety isn't an issue it's all about whether the Scottish Government think they can make political capital out of it.

You mean all those players/coaches who travelled abroad to play an important match rather than just a meaningless training trip?

You mean all those players/coaches who are clearly shown in their own bubble rather than mingling poolside with members of the public?

You mean all those players/coaches, none of whom came back with a positive test?

Lets be clear, no one would have a problem with any of this if Celtic had travelled abroad to play in a European tie. Going abroad isnt the issue. The issue is the total needlessness of the trip which has resulted in a Celtic player catching covid. Whether Celtic were within the elite rules or not, it was a total braindead move on their part.

So you are saying its okay and fine to break the rules if you are playing a competitive game and it results in no positive cases?

Belter.

Some amount of hypocrisy on show here.

I'm saying going abroad and using your elite sporting status to play a competitive game is fine, yes, as long as it is within the rules.

Using your elite status to go on a needless jolly shouldnt be.

As for breaking the rules, the conversation would have been far different if any of the Scotland players had positive tests after their celebrations. They didnt.

I could get on board with this having been an elite sports thing if they’d chartered an aircraft and travelled directly to a place that they had to themselves for a few days hot weather training with no contact with the public and limited contact with staff.
They travelled on a scheduled flight and stayed in a hotel open to the public and have been pictured mixing at least to some extent with people out with their  “elite sport” bubble. And that’s before you get into the fact that this was at best a totally ill advised trip in any event.
f**k them, make them play the youth squad tonight and on Saturday.
They travelled on a chartered flight.

Wouldn't surprise me if Duffy was the one with the positive test. Presumably got a commercial flight home himself with strangers and also pictured several times not exactly following the rules.

Anyone not admitting Celtic have shat the bed here is at it. The question really is just what level of shit we're talking...

Exactly.

Going on the trip was absolutely mental and should never have happened. If anything it's absolutely ripping the piss out of me and thousands of other fans for having bought a "virtual" season ticket and for not requesting a refund on last years games.

Some of the heads gone on here though is epic stuff.
