BFTD
Having decided that a 94 year old man should run the country, it seems a bit harsh to expect him not to need a wee nap after a transatlantic flight. Biden's older than my maw, and she needs a couple of days in bed after a big day out to Falkirk.

Guest Bob Mahelp
I see that Republican Glenn Youngkin won the Virginia governor's race. A major shock to the Biden administration. By all accounts he campaigned on a Fox news agenda of fear and lies, but this should come as a wake up call to Democrats who in 3 short years will be waking up to another nutcase Republican President unless they become far more dynamic in their thinking.
Wee-Bey
Is it any wonder that Youngkin won. The Lincoln Project doing backfiring false flags and check who paid for these leaflets.

Michael W
Trump lost Virginia by 10 percentage points in the election, double the margin he lost it in 2016. Leaflets or not, the likes of Youngkin may have found a way of keeping Trump in the background in places where he is not very popular. Or maybe Sleepy Joe just isn't very inspiring beyond not being the bad orange man. Or perhaps he's paying the price for the country's handling of covid, who knows. Either way, not a good start for him. Maybe the Republican candidate was actually quite good and the Democrat incumbent was not, I have no idea. It is a poor showing in a state the Democrats won very comfortably a year ago. I see the Dems did however manage to hold New Jersey by a slimmer than expected margin. A State that reliably hands the Democratic candidate electoral college points, but which is also not averse to Republican governors. Probably mildly concerning given Trump's unpopularity in NJ.
Ric
It's a shame really, Biden was chosen to attract the disaffected soft right who were put off by Trump's fuckwittery. It was a mistake, and that's being shown now. You don't try and appease the very people who were trying to overthrow a government. Biden seems a nice enough character, but let's be clear he is very much to the right of politics, just that from the American viewpoint that is considered socialism because a large part of the electorate are utterly fucking stupid while at the same time having no understanding of the political spectrum. Not necessarily their fault, they were fed American exceptionalism from birth, such indoctrination has an affect. Imagine saluting a flag every single day and pledging allegiance to both to your nation and a religion? All the while being told that you are in the greatest nation, don't question it, and if you do you are some sort of commie sympathiser. So yeah, they are fucking idiots because they've been bred on a diet of lies and xenophobia. Biden fucked up the Afghan departure (right decision, badly planned and rushed), he's caved in regarding the stimulus down to the right wing in his party and has spectacularly failed to deliver on his promises. I fully understand why people would not vote for him, he lied to them and he shouldn't be trusted not to lie again. However... the fucking elephant in the room, the big orange dick that lingers over all of American politics like a particularly stinky shit, that's the only reason to support Biden, because if you don't then you get out and out fascism. Sadly it seems, large tranches of the American electorate consider fascism as patriotic.
Detournement
You've got to respect the lack of shame. 4 weeks paid maternity leave which might reduce our sky high infant mortality rate? No can do unfortunately, sorry babies. A huge tax cut for wealthy people in solid blue states? Red line, must happen

Red line, must happen Quote Scrapping the SALT cap has been a top priority for a small group of mostly northeastern Democrats hailing from blue, high-tax states like Rep. Josh Gottheimer and Sen. Bob Menendez, both from New Jersey. Democrats can afford only three defections in the House and none in the Senate. Politics is nasty.
