There is something very strange about this whole thing.

First of all, if you're going to bin your manager and appoint someone else, do it before a transfer window, not after.

And if you're going to do that, why consider bringing in guys like Pressley or McIntyre? Even Robinson and Wright would be unspectacular appointments, though they would see you safe and have you treading water in mid table for a few years.

They're quite clearly not appointing Pressley or McIntyre, it'll just be those two hawking themselves to journalists to remind folk they actually exist.

We certainly could have binned him before the transfer window, but we rightly or wrongly chose to give him more time, and then actually took 7 points out of 9 at the end of December/start of January. Our hand was then forced by the terrible performances and results after that, culminating in the diabolical collapse against St Johnstone last weekend.

We are operating with something close to a director of football model anyway, and in fact signed as many players in the two managerless days after Dyer was sacked as we did in the rest of the month.

There's something wrong here. Pressley was adamant he only wanted to manage in England from now on.

Carlisle were 6th in League Two when he took over in January 2019, finished 11th and got fired in the November with the team in 19th. Taking a team from promotion candidates to a relegation battle in less than a year in the fourth tier has probably tarnished any reputation he has down there. I cant imagine clubs are lining up to hire him.

Except they've apparently been interviewed.

You'd think they wouldn't be so foolish.

Jim McIntyre shouldn't get another job in football never mind the top flight. He actively celebrated relegating us by being paraded on Tannadice in their opening game of the season just a wee while after twirling a United scarf FFS.

Not to mention the racist hate mail. Wouldn't have looked great on the club if Dyer had been dismissed around the time that was received.

I'm trying to tempt fate by saying it won't happen, Ludo.

John Hughes v Steven Pressley is a relegation dog fight we all want to see.

What worries me is McIntyre gave James Fowler his first chance as a player/coach at QOTS.

I just hope Fowler doesn't feel he needs to return McIntyre the favour with an opening back into management.....

What's happened to Billy Davis does not not consider this job high enough on the status list for his consideration.

Maybe being a St Mirren legend he is waiting to consider that post when it next becomes vacant now they are top six material.

Ross County sure called our bluff on that way of thinking when they actually did appoint John Hughes.
