Truss announcing a resignation honours list. Couldn't mark her neck with a blow torch. To coin a phrase - That. Is. A. Dis. Grace.

Sunak's polling might take a slight increase if he was to reject it.

The House or Lords, has the potential to be a good second chamber for scrutinising the government, but it's been deliberately broken by the recent Conservative PMs.

Aside from the recent spate of corrupt appointments, you have the likes of Ian Botham, Floella Benjamin, Arlene Foster and George Foulkes in there. The only way a second upper chamber has the potential to hold Govt and legislation to account is to take nominations and appointments out of the hands of self serving politicians (of any party).

I don't have a huge issue with appointments but there needs to be a much stronger process of confirming these appointments.

Whatever you might think of George Folkes, he is an ex cabinet minister and was also in the Scottish Parliament. But unfair to lump him in with Botham. There maybe should be a time limit on how long people can serve.

I would still argue that, for all its faults, the Lords does a better job than the commons or even committees at scrutinising legislation. But the Conservatives and successive PMs have tried to break it.

If we must have a revising chamber, elect one.  This nonsense of folk getting stuffed into our legislature because they gave the PM (oh, ok, for clarity.... the PM's party) a couple of hundred grand is revolting.

Used to be a lot worse. The place was filled with people who were only there because their fathers/grandfathers/etc. had been there.

Well, maybe, but I'm not sure that replacing one shower of chancers who shouldn't be there with another shower of chancers who shouldn't be there is a significant step forward.

Some Masters students come with family. Wives and kids.

They pay huge amounts and keep universities afloat. But these rules have already started tanking the numbers. This will lead to job losses in higher education.

All for an electioneering slogan.

It will also mean that people who do come here to study will be less likely to stay on afterwards, reducing the levels of specialist and advanced knowledge in the economy and harming productivity.

Still, fewer foreigners is good because of erm, something, eh?
