I know they have always been that way with wording or putting spin on it. But now it is just obvious, not holding back at all. The way they describe swings and majorities is just so wrong. Curtis is an absolute melt too. It’s blatant. Sky News is better
jamamafegan
They let that p***k on the telly!?Sadly yes. I’ve no idea who he is but he’s sitting there smirking at the lassie from The National while she’s speaking. Comes across as a total w**k
Guest Jedi
How about using the 2024 GE as the final poll on Independence.....'if' the Tories block a referendum...the SNP could conceivably win all 59 seats (or between 55-59) in the GE. Could enter that with a policy platform of a clear majority of pro-Independence MPs this time, is a mandate, not for a Ref, but to start negotiations with Westminster-in other words back to the policy position which the SNP held for years, and was even agreed by Thatcher. This would allow the SNP govt to concentrate on Covid recovery for the next 3 years-and then ramp up the pressure in an election in which Johnson will be returned to power in England.

They should (probably do for all I know) do some post-loss polling in these constituencies & make some decisions that don't take into account the hurt feelings & career prospects of the existing candidate if it comes out saying they're not popular. Youre starting to see it becoming a bit like labour with candidates being cycled through constituencies, just seemingly more dying to be an elected politician than dying to represent their community. Theres a really nice lassie Anum who is running for them in the up coming by election, but shes been a prospective candidate in different constituencies and on the list etc, the same for the guy who stood in Dumbarton too, he was a failed candidate in Edinburgh, yet they seem to think the voters dont have access to google? The actual list of prospective candidates in Dumbarton was kinda awful to say the least. I just think if your ambition in life is to be an elected politician then youre doing it wrong.

Donathan
51 minutes.Tories were managing expectations but now the ballot boxes are open, they think they’re on to a winner. 7000 Lib Dem votes last time but this is expected to collapse with a straight transfer over to the Tories allowing them to hold the seat on an increased majority.

Guest Jedi
No question that there is a mandate for a Ref on the back of this result. However, to wait until the GE enables the SNP govt to (in the public eye) concentrate on Covid recovery, while the Tories continue to blunder their way through at Westminster. Keep talking up the democratic deficit-ask for a Section 30 knowing that it will be denied, and then enter the GE on the platform of no ref, but starting negotiations with Westminister with a clear majority of Scottish seats. Best way around the Tory instrangegence I think.

GiGi
It is a great laugh looking at the results so far and hearing how disappointing they are for the SNP who are absolutely helicoptering in near enough every constituency. Some large hits of copium on BBC this weekend.
G51
The wildcat referendum sounds like the probable backup plan. Nothing will happen until after the pandemic anyway.

Donathan
Another option for the SNP would be to use a referendum as leverage for a Westminster coalition government if the next GE gives a hung Parliament -

Guest Jedi
No chance of a hung parliament with the Tories currently 80 seats ahead. Now that they are clearly the 'English National Party' in all but name, and Labour have been totally sqeezed out on the constituion they Tories are safe in the next GE (in England)---have to move back to what was SNP policy for years.
Forest_Fifer
Massive swing of voters from Lib Dems to Tory which makes grim reading for any potential Aberdeenshire West chances. What really is the fucking point in the Lib Dems? And if course the BBC are describing it as a 6% swing from SNP to Tory. [emoji2959]
