At the 4th attempt Scone played Violet last night with the visitors winning 2-0 in front of a larger than normal crowd for the hosts.

From what i heard as 2 Scone officials talked to each other the prospect of the split league next year is not going down well with the smaller teams, concerned that they may be having a good season and be sitting 10th at the split then lose every game in the final 9, making the end to the season horrendous and spoiling the perception of the season.  it might be better to finish 11th or 12th at that point and then have 9 more games you can win.

It's a bit like the split in SPFL Premiership where even if finish 6th and lose all your final games after the split you still finish 6th even if lower points then bottom half teams. Your fans and players will be aware playing higher standard of teams in post split games if finish top half in 9th or 10th spot. Gives the teams in middle of the league something to aim after 19 games as with no relegation be a lot of dead rubbers.

Seems sensible to me or two leagues of 10.

20 is an awkward number for this level of football as 38 games are too many league games to fit in for clubs with various cups we have plus Scottish weather, pitches and postponments.

Exactly. For the sake of 9 POTENTIAL scuddings after a good season, it's hardly worth crying about. It is a lot better than having 2 divisions with 27 games without any games against the top teams then losing out on the gate money they would bring

I take it there’s no appetite for, say, the top 8 teams in the midland league joining with the top 8 teams from the North Juniors to form a sort of superleague?

Something like that was suggested a while back but it didn't gain traction.

Confirmed at the ERSJFA AGM tonight that there will be a split in 24/25.

Each team will play the others once for 19 games plus 9 post split games.

Seems like a very good solution for the league.

It looked like joke League when North End were 23 points behind Broughty with 8 games in hand, and won them all, scoring 44 and conceding 2 to win the league, this looks like it could work, and should also avoid a mad scramble to finish in time for the play offs. Not sure if there's a way of avoiding a big mismatch of home and aways after the split though.

Result of the community trust’s involvement with the vics…understand that they are putting money in to improve facilities but looks terrible imo. Believe the classic black and white stripes of the Vics will be no more too.

Dunno but I bet Broughty would rather DNE had had two home games v themselves rather than any May games against the Angus teams.

I'm not sure home advantage in a league with low/no travel and small crowds is a huge deal.

Stuff like this is gutting, needless removal of club history to turn it into what at least looks like a glorified B team.

I completely agree. I think that the Vics were in such a crap position, that they couldn’t really afford to say no to any changes that would come with funding.

What's the story with these community trusts, where do they get their money from?

Funding and grants mainly, but they will have trustees that are quite wealthy but not sure if they actually part with any cash or if it’s just that those are the guys looking for funding opportunities.

I suppose investment is good and good luck to the Vics in this venture.
