Arch Stanton
The season 4 episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" called "Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack" features a sub-plot where Frank (Danny DeVito) ends up in a mental hospital very reminiscent of the on in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". So, 2 fun facts for the price of 1...Danny DeVito was in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and the Native American in the episode is Tim Samson...the son of Will Samson who played "The Chief" in the movie.
scottsdad
In Napoleonic times, a ship could haul itself out of a dead calm using anchors. This was called warping, and ships doing it were travelling at warp speed. A dog paddling alongside could outpace such a ship.

Starboard is a corruption of Steer Board which did the same thing as a rudder. To avoid it getting damaged the ship would tie up to the port on the other side. The log book refers to when a log was thrown into the water to calculate the speed of the ship. The bridge of ship refers to paddle ships where a walkway was built between the two paddles, it actually was a bridge and it was where ship was controlled.

Port used to be known as Larboard, a corruption of Loading Board which represented the side of the ship from which things were loaded. Larboard was too easily confused with starboard, so was changed to Port.

This referred to the more expensive cabins on a ship travelling from the U.K. to India. These were more sheltered from the afternoon sun. Unfortunately there is no evidence this origin of the word is actually true.
