He's played his way to a lower asking price.

There's not a chance Spurs chuck £100million at a rebuild without recouping a massive amount of that first.

Conte 100% won't take the job without immediate funds in January so it might not even happen when you think about it that way. Will be some job by Patarici if he can convince him.

4 month is no time at all to implement your ideas on a squad and bring in your team. Fans turned against him due to a disappointing start, but that's a terrible decision to make so early. A side like Tottenham need to pick a manager for long term.

There's no evidence that NES had any credible ideas to implement. Cutting your losses early on a dud manager is the rational decision, which you'd think that a Dundee fan watching James McPake manage every week would grasp by now.

He didn't want it in the summer due to the constraints (allegedly). I just can't see Levy loosening the purse strings now. Agreed with the second bit.

I can see the parallels. Also, how about Nuno for Newcastle? No chance they'll get someone like Conte (yet) so Nuno could come in and use his Portuguese contacts to bring in some decent and realistic improvements to their squad, then get them the midtable stability they need before taking the next step.

That sounds like a decent shout.

Early on James McPake would've been about 2 season ago.

They don't want Conte, staying in the league then throwing money at Erik Ten Hag in May seems to be their plan

Who'd be willing to pay the 150 mil spurs want? City possibly but can't see anyone else.
Kane is going to have to make the call soon between trophies and longevity of coin.... City might make that call for him by patching him again, in which case its even more likely he becomes the first mega move of Newcastles "still shit enough to have to massively overpay" phase.

Saw a bit saying Woodward's desperate not to fire Ole as it would reflect badly on him and mean every manager he's appointed has been sacked. Can totally believe that.

I had a look at their Board. Think it's 5 Glazers with the rest basically financial people and nobody with any football experience. The only sport mentioned is one of them worked in cricket for a while which may explain the Glazers sudden desire to buy an IPL team. No wonder the fans have been crying out for a genuine Director of Football like Van de Sar or Overmars.

It's obviously not just Ole that's out of their depth running one of the world's biggest football clubs. But they overpay for players so there's obviously no problem with the running of the club. 😂

Spurs fans have a sense of entitlement on par with Old Firm or Newcastle fans.

Guardiola, Klopp, Tuchel and Conte all in the Barclays, but Manchester United are just chilling with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Some laugh.

Missing out on the top 4 will probably be the only thing to see him sacked he'll be around until May, then its Rodgers or Poch if PSG punt him.

Conte confirmed now.

Bizarre. He could have went in the summer, built the squad he wanted and had a pre-season. Now he's in mucking out the stables till the next transfer window.

The thing to remember about transfer windows is that Spurs are utterly shite at them. For years doing deals at the 11th hour that destabilised the team. Paying over the odds for dross, demanding too much for their own dross to move them on.

Maybe Conte got bored?  Or had been waiting on an even better job offer?

Either way it makes me think that Spurs wanted him all along, hired Nuno as a plan B but then as soon as they found out Conte was now willing to join them, they canned the plan B

Alternatively, Spurs wouldn’t give him what he wanted in the summer, but now that they’ve made a c**t of it they’re a bit more willing to do so?

Levy apparently didn't give him the budget he wanted in the summer - he will have now.

As you say, they will end up paying over the odds in January.
