English Premier League 2021/22 Season

Recommended Posts

I might have to delete this post by the end of the season if he does well, but something about Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace just screams 'sacked by Christmas'.
Sooner I think.

This has de Boer mark 2 written all over it.

Vieira is trying to play out from the back with players who aren't up to the job.

I think they may well go down this season.

My son is getting to an age where he'd love a trip to an English Premier League match (his dad less so).

What teams are easiest to get tickets for anyone know? Crystal Palace would appeal but I think they sell out all the time.

Noticed Newcastle had tickets left on Sunday v West Ham but the day didn't really suit. Not sure if that's normal for them or if it was to do with the earlyish on a Sunday kick off.

You’ll be lucky for some clubs. Most tickets I’ve noticed that go on sale are for restricted seats only.

I’d say your best bets are Newcastle, both Manchester clubs, or trying your arm for West Ham if you can be arsed going to London.

My dad and I looked at Everton but it was quite hard to find semi decent seats.

I've only been to 2 Premier League games. Went to Newcastle a couple of years ago and although we managed to get tickets we weren't together (same stand though).

Also had a weekend in Manchester a few years ago and managed to get tickets for what was Guardiola's first game. I don't think City tend to sell out so they might be your best bet. Newcastle was a far better atmosphere than City - both games were shite.

how far would you travel ? you'll get general sale tickets for City, you've absolutely no chance of a ticket at Old Trafford

West Ham are in a stadium they'll never sell out,  Liverpool will give you the dregs of what's left from their membership ballot, in fact most clubs do that, two mid table outfits playing wouldnt be too difficult,  but forget about United, Liverpool or Chelsea coming to town, its like diddy team fans when they make a Cup Final

Palace is a pain to get to and a dump. Burnley is a dreadful ground too and I've no idea how it passes to health and safety inspections.

Think most teams are harder to get tickets for now, after COVID, everyone is desperate to watch matches.

Not sure what Brentford's new stadium is like, might be able to get tickets for that. Pretty close to Chelsea I imagine.

Brentford will sell out every game but if you are willing to pay over the odds you will pick up a ticket.

Easy enough to get to direct overground  rail from Waterloo or piccadilly line on the tube. That was for there old ground but there new ground is just up the road so I'm assuming that travel remains the same,Both about 5/10 mins walk and a few pubs up that way but been a few years since I've been so pub options might have changed

As for the original question Villa park is easy enough to get a ticket for even for the so called games against the big teams

You could get tickets for any PL team if you apply for League Cup games. They're usually available. Next best is try a midweek league game.

I think the away end at Palace is worse than Burnley, the concourse is unbelievably tight. Not sure what the home end is like?

West Ham are relatively easy to get tickets for, but depending on your sons age @Steven W you might want to give it a miss as protests are due to start again. If your boy enjoys seeing that sort of thing though, it is a piss easy ground to get to, a direct train from St Pancras to Stratford.

Villa Park is still my favourite ground (as an away fan)

Burnley can't continue their one-trick pony routine forever and had a worse result at the weekend. Watford, Norwich and Southampton are the other ones who might preserve them.

I don't disagree.

There's a lot of teams who are going to be fighting it out at the bottom. Apart from Burnley, Palace and the 3 you mention you can probably add Newcastle. I also wouldn't be surprised If Leeds struggle a lot more this season. Brighton will also no doubt have their usual crap run to drag them into it.

Would be FAF if a big team like Arsenal were down there too.

Having tried to obtain tickets for Liverpool games for the glory hunting Funky Junior, I can advise that priority for the dregs is given to those with a Liverpool postcode.

So long as Newcastle have Saint-Maximin and Wilson they'll be fine; they can shitfest further back in the team and use that quality to get them 45 points.

I'm probably bias, but Villa is my favourite ground. Not amazing for pubs, but probably not a big worry for you if you are taking your son.

Tottenham was very good and they've really improved the area, Arsenal is okay. Both expensive though.

Haven't been to West Ham's new ground, quite liked their old one.

Imagine Brighton is an okay stadium, but in the middle of nowhere.

Chelsea is quite a nice ground and good pubs too.

Everton is okay, view wasn't great when I went.

Liverpool has to be the most overrated ground in England. Quite small and they jam the seats in, no leg room. Grey plastic outside too.

Man City is like a smaller version of Arsenal's ground.

Man Utd is okay and pretty close to Manchester City Centre.

Newcastle when I went, I was up in the Gods. Probably the highest I've sat in a ground other than Wembley. Dunno about the city, as I went by official coach.

Norwich is a pain to get to, but not a bad city and the ground isn't bad at all. Actually has a hotel right by the ground.

Southampton was a typical new ground really, thought the city itself lacked character, all Yates and Wetherspoons bars.

Haven't been to Watford or Brentford.

Wolves is fairly close to the city centre. Curiously they don't have many chippies, but loads of shops selling pork on baps. As a Villa fan you get escorted to the Aussie Bar or ground straight from the train, but probably different if it isn't a local derby. There is a back entrance so you can avoid police and it brings you out by a decent pub.

Burnley is hell on Earth, 6000 away fan allocation and 1 toilet and 1 bar. All wooden seats too.

Palace takes forever to get to and you can't see the whole pitch from your seat. My wife is 5 foot 2 and could only see one half of the pitch.

I can’t see it ever being much bother to get a ticket in the home end at Newcastle. Location is bang on too and it doesn’t take much for the fans to get excited/annoyed which can make for a good atmosphere.

Unpopular opinion but I’ve been up in the gods there and had no issue with it. You see everything (a tacticians wet dream if that’s your sort of thing) and get a cracking view of the city since the opposing stands are totey in comparison.

I’m quite surprised by how many teams the bookies have as being more likely to go down than Southampton.

They’d a honking second half of the season and now appear to be going out their way to let go of all their best players - replacing them with a striker from the Championship and some Chelsea youth players.

I suspect the 9-0 humpings aren’t over with.
