More difficult that it should have been.

Hopefully see Arbroath around about the play offs this season, well run club.

As for us, f**k me we need to find our shooting boots pronto.

Absolutely normal behaviour.

A really odd little man. Pretty sure the same guy was all over the Galatasaray thread gloating as well. Made himself look a bit silly on this occasion though. Shame.

Ref had a big hand in getting the defending champs through. Absolutely horrific decision to give a corner instead of a foul on our defender that lead to the Saints equaliser.

thought to a man we were terrific today. TOB and Low our standouts

Big decisions always go in favour of the big teams.

You can certainly be proud of your team mate we were extremely lucky to win the tie

Yea they were superb. Thomas O’Brien could walk into plenty Premier League sides defences  IMO.

Seemed a strange sub.

Until last seasons game at Dens I'm fairly sure he'd never saved a penalty.

In non-shootouts, Zander Clark has faced 22 penalties and saved 5. 4 for you and 1 for QotS.

Elliot Parish has the exact same penalty record. Faced 22, saved 5.

What a go Arbroath gave that and they'll be gutted to go out.

Saints weren't good at all today but live to fight another day and everyone would have accepted that with LASK to come, today was all about getting the job done, whatever it took. Ideally that wouldn't have involved ET.

Not much to pick over for us, poor all round. We only looked dangerous when the centre backs were prepared to step out and that didn't happen often enough.

For one reason or another, don't think I'd ever seen Tom O'Brien play before today but was very impressed. As said, Arbroath gave us a real game.

Get in the ice baths until Wednesday then next stop Austria.

Chalk that up as a lucky escape and move on, IMO.

Our midfield is fairly useless on the ball if you remove Bryson and Wotherspoon, today a lovely example of that. Didn't even attempt to play through Arbroath until Ballantyne came on. Liam Craig is so far off it this season. We were so, so, passive at everything, yet every time we ran at Arbroath we caused them issues.

Defence without Gordon remains an issue too. No way we concede such weak goals if he's organising in there.

Didn't think the shape was necessary. Didn't like the starting line up. Didn't like the subs made. The whole atmosphere around us today felt like this was just a nuisance game to get out the way before Thursday. Thankfully we've still got the ability to grind results out.

Job done, move on.

Well played Arbroath, better team on the day.

Just happy to be through, our players had a big off day and looked knackered but stuck in there when they were up against it, so fair play for that.

Liam Craig had a howler, but a big ask after starting against Galatasary then 120 minutes today.

Stevie May and Callum Hendry need to have long hard looks at themselves. Arbroath centre backs probably had their easiest game for a while.  You see the difference Kane makes by challenging for every ball.  Arbroath won just about every header in defence and midfield.  You're going to struggle to get a foothold in a match which has a lot of aerial duels when you lose most of them all game (apart from our defenders).  Callum Hendry won one all day. Fair enough if you're up against a player stronger in the air, but he was hardly even jumping close to his opponent to make it difficult, his reading of where to position himself to challenge for headers was horrendous.  To be fair to Hendry, he did have a cracking flick to Middleton in the build up to his shot off the bar, and put himself forward to score from a penalty.

Watching that today emphasises my fear about group stage European football, we will struggle with the squad we have.

But overall, the will to get through was superb, so credit to Saints for that, and getting through is what matters.
