He says not living under nuclear threat as if it was a bad thing

Millenials are almost 40 now, why the f**k are they getting the blame for the actions of old men?

Living with the threat that complete and utter nuclear annihilation could happen any minute is character building.

Yeah as attackers it’s a bit different to the attacks on Armenian defensive positions. I think the EW stuff is pretty mobile, they have them on trucks. Maybe they ran out fuel for them.

Bit worrying when the 2nd largest oil producer in the world runs out of fuel for its military vehivles.

Think the quartermaster could be in trouble...

Is there nobody left still sane enough to say hang on a minute, maybe we should try to deescalate this? It's just a constant pile-on of everyone promising to pump more and more weapons into the conflict and adding more sanctions & bans.

What's the desired result of firing more weapons in? Without them, Ukraine may well lose and tens of thousands will be dead on both sides. With them, Ukraine might 'win' but it will drag on longer with even more dead.

If the sociopaths who run governments and political institutions manage to engineer a situation where we're on the cusp of lobbing nukes across the globe at each other, then us normal folks need to kick the doors in and physically remove them.

Look buddy, we've poked that bear into the corner and it's started lashing out wildly. Damn sure we're going to keep on poking it.

I'm taking all my annual leave by the end of March to be on the safe side. No point wasting it, I'd feel a right mug if I got nuked.

You do understand how Russia works, yes?

Sanctions targeted - and really hurting (as I think they are now actually doing) - at the elite will have Vladimir attempting to exit a penthouse window very soon. Like many of his apparently conflicted critics…

Yup, it'd be classic inept politician logic to conclude that continual poking of the bear leading to a deteriorating situation means that we haven't been poking it hard enough.

This is the Farage line that you can't blame Putin for invading another country because he wasn't given enough respect.

Deescalation required two sides who want to do that. I honestly don’t think Putin is up for that.

I remember growing up back in the 80’s when the Politburo was the ruling council and they seemed to pick the oldest guy to be president. Some grey Communist Party careerist would take on the role for the very short period until they inevitably died of extreme old age. I don’t recall ever being that worried it would escalate despite the bombast on both sides.

Now we appear to have an angry, paranoid despot in charge without too many apparent checks and balances in place.  Maybe it’s my age or whatever but it certainly makes me a bit nervous as to what Putin might be capable of, particularly if he is surrounded by sycophants and has an ideological vision for greater Russia, as I have read elsewhere.

Ex-BBC John Sweeney in Kiev says it's all quiet in the city.

All sorts of conflicting reports flying about though.

Well they've all apparently agreed to talk at least. Maybe we should see what comes of that before ratcheting up the threat level.
