UsedToGoToCentralPark
In London for work, my hotel is across the road from a few Theatres, paid £20 to go and see Les Mis on my own. Not the best performance of it I've ever seen but for £20 very enjoyable.
Craig fae the Vale
Saw Six at the Theatre Royal tonight. What an absolute riot of a good time. Will be singing the songs in my head for weeks.
Hard Graft
Went to the matinee performance of The Lion King on Wednesday in Edinburgh. Theatre was rammed with many school kid there and they must be complemented on their behaviour. Great show but the seats are needing upgraded.
FK1Bairn
Tickets purchased this morning to see Kevin Bridges at The Hydro in September. Had a great night a few months back watching John Bishop, hoping Bridges is the same (I know he will be)

Le Tout P'ti FC
Was at the John Byrne exhibition at Kelvingrove, which is absolutely superb. Going back later for a another whirl around it. Found out that the NYC production of Slab Boys in 1983 had a cast including Kevin Bacon, Sean Penn and Val Kilmer. Absolutely incredible casting. Also found out that he has a new play at the Tron this year, which I hadn't heard about, so I excitedly went online to find some tickets only to learn it was totally sold out. Sakes.

Craig fae the Vale
For anyone interested, there's a company doing a run of Irvine Welsh's Porno at the Fringe this year, but there's a preview at The Beacon in Greenock on Monday August 1st. Tickets only a tenner and there were plenty available when I bought them last night.
Craig fae the Vale
Went to the World Premiere of Irvine Welsh's Porno at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock tonight. Fantastic stuff. If you can get to see it in it's Fringe run, I highly recommend doing so.

Craig fae the Vale
Show 1 of a day at the Fringe was Assassins at the Space @ Niddry Street. It was a bunch of American High school students performing and they did a great job. Not all the best singers but they gave it their all and it was a really good performance of a great show.
Craig fae the Vale
Show two of the day saw Once Upon a Midnight Dreary, a musical about Edgar Allen Poe's death throes. Extremely weird, but I think in a good way. Was it good? I'm genuinely not sure. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely. Probably made an even weirder experience for being in a conference room in the Hilton with 15 people watching. What the Fringe is all about really.
JMDPco
Was in London the past couple of weeks and took in a couple of shows. The Book of Mormon was alright, not as amazing as what friends had told me but a decent enough couple of hours. Then popped to see Witness for the Prosecution. Set in an old court house, I thought it was a really excellent piece of theatre.

Craig fae the Vale
Third and final show of the day was Avenue Q at Hill Street. Fantastic show, some really good singers. And most of the humour still holds up. Excellent day of theatre.

Newbornbairn
The Moulin Rouge in Paris. Wow! Spectacular. I worked in theatre for years, both backstage and as a house manager. I've seen great actors, great musicals, great dance acts from the Fringe to London's West End but nothing, nothing compares to the show I saw tonight. OK, I paid a lot for the tickets but the staff were exceptional from start to finish, really treating us as VIP's throughout and the show itself - wow - magnifique! I urge everyone visiting Paris to see the show at the Moulin Rouge. Fabulous night and there's titties!

Dan Steele
Was at Thunderstruck, David Colvin's one-man play at The Byre, St Andrews last night. Absolutely fantastic. From discovering the bagpipes to playing in champion Lochgelly High Pipeband, the play is at times hilarious, heartbreaking, and an insight into Pipeband culture. It's also a musical intro to the pipes and the whole play has the presence of the incredible Gordon Duncan throughout. Duncan pretty much changed the world of Scottish bagpiping - Thunderstruck by AC/DC on the bagpipes? Gordon. It's on tour just now and definitely worth seeing.
