Hopefully seeding next so they aren't trying their best to get all the top flight clubs through but that'll never happen. Should keep the seedings IMO. It's the league cup so your performance in the league should give you an advantage or otherwise. They should never - and will never - introduce seedings to the Scottish Cup, that's pure luck of the draw cup football. Positives and negatives of removing the regions. It was becoming a bit stale but didn't feel we drew any one team repeatedly. With some of the group games being midweek it is going to be hard for away fans to get from one end of the country to the other in time for a 7:45pm KO. Could they start earlier and have them weekends only?
Fuctifano
Glad the regionalisation has gone, I'd be more in favour of just going back to straight knock-outs- the season starts too early with the groups IMO and you still have to have pre-season games before the groups start. Teams also feel pressure to have their squads in place much earlier- I'd be up for allowing trialists in the group stages as well for this reason if they do remain. Crucially it also reduces the chances of a sun-kissed train jolly down South as the English teams haven't started their pre-seasons by then. Be some laugh when we end up with St Mirren, Airdrie, QP and Stenny for the 4th time each despite the regionalisation being gone.
Dunning1874
Excellent news to have the regionalisation binned. Aberdeen, Fraserburgh, Elgin and Buckie please, preferably all away from home.
TheScarf
We'll still get Hearts in our group.

Dunfermline, a mere 15 minutes away, have been in the other side of the draw for the most part. It never really made any sense anyway.

craigkillie
They already had the possibility to make fairly long trips within the section as illustrated by the post.
The Master
Does this mean we don’t have the annual “why are Dumbarton in the north section?” thread? Anyway, the draw is on Wednesday at 1pm, live on Premier Sports.
bennett
Best wishes to Aberdeen in their qualifying games.

Morton Supporter
Does anyone know if we’ll get the specific fixtures tomorrow too? Or is it a case of - right you five in a group and we’ll tell you who’s going where and when in due course?
Fuctifano
Think it's normally a day or two until they work out the TV games. Also I know we've asked for our first two games to be away from home to allow our tattie field of a pitch to be replanted.
The Master
Seeding now based on 5 pots rather than two "seeded" pots, and one large "unseeded" pot.

The old seeding system risked a group with four Championship teams: Dundee (1), Cove (U/S), Queen's Park (U/S) and a pot 2 team.
