Possibly symptomatic of why Calum Elliot left too.  Chairman/backers exerting too much influence about on-field matters?

Maybe. It can't possibly be based on what was going on on the pitch - they have had a very good season, especially after Colin Nish came in. It does make you think there must be more to it.

Ah, those sour faced chaps with the matching team coats that tried to get the game postponed at Cowdenbeath, until the referee told the, to GTF.  I could see that.

Was it the same chairman when Max Christie walked away and then joined Bo’ness the next week? If so there seems to be no longevity in the job there.

The chairman didn't know anything about it happening on Saturday night!

Guessing it's a bit like in the WoSFL where they ask members if they're interested in hosting the final. Which led to Drumchapel & St Cadoc's going down to Ayrshire in last season's Strathclyde Cup final.

With so many groundshares in the Lowland it further limits the options available.

Surely Spartans would have been the sensible choice, given they were the only team not in the competition thus offering a neutral venue?

My only thoughts on that is they hosted last season. So maybe they would want to spread it round.

Also if they knew going into it they were going to be in the SPFL Playoff, they might not want the distraction of playing host the weekend they could be battling for promotion.
