Skyline Drifter
I think JTs overall contribution is taken into effect. Remember that JT had a spell at Queens before you watched them. Plus he's still contributing off the pitch and both before he stopped playing and since has been a superb ambassador for the club. I also think Finlay underestimates his playing contribution anyway but everyone's entitled to their opinion.
Homer Thompson
When we were in the second division. And? The club has played in the top flight for many years, in the past. Does that mean none of the first division players are eligible either? I have to say, I find the idea that entry to the hall of fame should be based, solely, on talent rather strange
Homer Thompson
Talented players are the sole reason people go and watch football. Well, no. But even if it was true, that doesnt mean that a highly talented player, at the club for a short spell, has contributed more to the club than a less talented player with years of service and off the field work. A "Best ever players" list isnt the same as a Hall of Fame
Distant Doonhamer
Talented players are the sole reason people go and watch football. Eh no. They are one of the reasons but i`ve seen many a QOS side where talent was almost non-existent. Didn`t stop me going though.
Homer Thompson
The reason football is good to watch is because of talented players is what I should have said, Kevin Smith and Alan Johnston on occasion are the best things about Queen's at the moment. So you never see the crowd get fired up by a good tackle, or great save? Was Steve Bowey not "good to watch"?
Swarley
Are there going to be new inductions to the Hall of Fame annually? Or is that it?
Homer Thompson
A defender and keeper can be a talented player, I didn't think Bowey was ever that great to watch no. And yet he had plenty of fans, many of whom still speak fondly of him as a player.
Monkey Tennis
So Jim Thomson and Tommy Bryce then. Both completely deserving and excellent candidates for inclusion. No complaints from me there, though I voted for neither this time around. Slightly surprised at JT's inclusion if only because I don't think i've seen anyone who disclosed their voting say they voted for him. Both players who had more than one spell here. Like you I hadn't seen Jim getting in at this point, but I've no problem with it at all. He played a lot of matches for us and he captained us to promotion and some good times in the first division. Throw in his captaincy and goal scoring in the Cup and he's a decent candidate. When you consider what he's added to this in terms of community work and his local profile, he actually makes a lot of sense as one of the first choices. Much as I liked Bryce, I'd certainly have chosen Andy Thomson ahead of him. Again though, Bryce represents a perfectly sensible choice. I suppose it'll get more contentious as obvious candidates like those above get duly inducted. Depending on how the process develops, some people with less obvious claims may be considered, but it's a nice idea overall.
JRS LEFT PEG
Something for the ` Brannigan is a numbskull , idiot , thicko brigade ` to ponder over . Up till now , who`s record at Palmerston is the best ? His or McPherson`s ? Is it even close ?

qos_75
I'm happy to compare wage bills. A very good point, along with the fact that Brannigan had a season and third in charge. Gus has only been at the helm for 9 league games. To compare home form at this stage seems a bit unfair and pointless to be honest.
Monkey Tennis
My money is on JRSLEFTPEG earning more than you D'you reckon? You're maybe right. However, we both have far too much class to enter into such a debate. As you know however, I was referring to Queens' wage bill, rather than my own earnings or those of a fellow poster. It'll get increasingly hard to defend McPherson if this continues, but he's yet to treat the club with the utter contempt KB specialised in.
the_vortex
I must admit you're a class act & a top guy . Anyway , I'm not worrying about things just yet . I'll give it another 9 games before I make any decision on Gus & the team . Still early doors IMO . Enjoy the rest of your evening folks Edited October 15, 2011 by the_vortex
JRS LEFT PEG
Maybe I had a rush of blood to the head there . On second thoughts , it wasn't the most helpful question to ask. If you hadn't guessed already , I was a Brannigan fan. Apart from an over reliance on Holmes , he done a decent job. This is my opinion. -----------I said at the onset that our biggest problem would be a turgid, unproductive midfield . This prophecy is staring as full square in the face every week. We are also losing late goals and away matches at a horrible rate and have to get out of this bad habit very soon. Can McPherson change things about . Who knows but it sheer aint pretty.
BigRubberFist
Right now MacPherson is looking like the new Iain Scott. I know, budget contraints, blah, blah, blah, but results up to this point don't reflect particularly well on the club or MacPherson himself. The players know they've got an earner for the year and - as we can't sack him - so does MacPherson. Where's the motivation?
Monkey Tennis
Right now MacPherson is looking like the new Iain Scott. I know, budget contraints, blah, blah, blah, but results up to this point don't reflect particularly well on the club or MacPherson himself. I see where you're coming from, but you overstate it. Under Scott, I think I'm right in saying we didn't win until late October in a division that contained Stranraer and Brechin. There's also the small matter that Scott had no kind of pedigree. It's hard to present a positive spin on current circumstances, which isn't my style anyway. I do think we at least need to let the jury sit outside on McPherson for a bit though. Despite no obvious minnows, we're fortunate in being accompanied by a couple of other poor teams in a league which only one drops from automatically. I know that none of this is inspiring, but we might have to cling to it for now.
Katboy
With the amount of late goals we are losing (most down to silly individual errors) I don't blame the manager. I do though question the teams attitude as a collective unit. I have the cure for this here. Forget training Monday. Get them in for double laps of Strathclyde Park tomorrow morning at 0900hrs. If any of them complain, make them do it again. Time to get tough with over privelaged professional players & show them how easy they actually have it. Have the promise of this as a repetition of on hand for next time their minds wander. Perhaps then they will focus on the job in hand for the whole game. While I'm on the subject we should ban silly haircuts & multi coulored boots. In my team there would be black boots only. And no listening to I-Pods and such like on team buses. They are professionals, time they started acting like it. Edited October 15, 2011 by Katboy
weeredbook
We did well in Scott's first season when it was basically JC's team. On another note I was at Threave vs Gretna today, and if that is how Stuart Rome acts around our under 19's more fool us. The youth system is a complete joke.Your observations would be of someone cursing/raging/going off his nut ? .Thats the norm. The whole thing should be scrapped.
