The Queen of the South thread

I'm not sure how anybody can justify that the guy who relegates you is the guy who is good enough to get you back to where you were in the first place.

Indeed. We all know Gus had a reduced budget and little time to gather a squad but those are simply just excuses for an utter failure of a campaign. We have lacked fight and fully deserve our impending fate. Relegation is coming; it's just a matter of whether it's confirmed next weekend or the one after.

We are not good enough for the 1st Div two many poor players.

Gus signed all there poor players but he will say that he had neither the time or the money to get good players in.

Will Gus do any better next season in Div 2 ?

He will have plenty of time to get good players in but can he get them to sign for Queens?

We will have to play more younger players mixed with a few older players just as Falkirk have done this season.

Gus is NOT the man for the job but Mark and his board seem to think so time will tell who is right.

Kevin McCann who had a solid game against Danny yesterday and David Weatherston are just two of a large number of players who were in pre-season looking for a contract. They like a lot of others were not deemed good enough by our tactical technical genius Gus.

He decided that we needed players of the calibre of Brighton, Clark, Simmons and McLaughlan, and let's not forget Campbell who was a real pillar of strength before he was unceremoniously subbed after gifting 2 goals in the first 20mins against Hamilton.

If these are the type of decisions Gus is making on players, then we won't be in the second division for long, we'll be straight down to the third. That is assuming and I hope it's not the case, that we go down and he gets another contract next season.

Everyone was panicking that the consortium would be the ruination of the club. Hey take a look at what has happened since Gus came in. The sooner the BOD wake up and smell the roses and do the necessary, the better.

On a cheerier note, remember that Queens youths are playing Celtic in the Youth Cup Final tonight. Seems like the future is not all gloom.

Have Dundee given up BMSA ? Are they not playing for contracts ? Going by your home result on Saturday , it looks even bleaker for us.

Yep, they are supposed to be playing for contracts, but they've basically given up. I seriously would'nt bank on an away win in this one.

8 0 Outclassed by a very good Celtic team tonight, well done Queens on reaching the final that was watched by over 3700 fans!!

Rome was very proud of his players and insists that Celtic have one of the best youth teams/ academy in the world. Well done to the Queens Boys in standing up and clapping the Celtic team as they picked up the trophy.

Well done the youths! Great achievement getting to the final.

Anybody agree that one of the main reasons we're in this mess is very poor preparation last summer? The whole thing was a mad rush.

Late appointment of manager

Late signings of players

A complete joke of a pre-season fixture list. In fact it could be said that the start of our competitive fixtures were in fact our proper 'pre season.'

I understand the financial reasons for delaying the above but IMO it was delayed too long. Gus has been far from perfect since but he/we started with a disadvantage IMHO.

No one can say for definite that Ayr will be able to get over the finish line . That is why the team have to throw everything they can muster at Raith Rovers and try to take this to last game . ------The best thing about this end season will be getting shot of players like McLaughlin , Simmons and Brighton . There are others but these three will do for starters

Why do you assume that Simmons etc will depart ?

McPherson obviously rates them highly.

That is why McPherson has to go - end of.
