The General Ross County Chat Thread

Recommended Posts

Ian McShane? Not sure how I’d feel about that.

Lovejoy on a one year deal might make sense. He’s a Championship Plus player who doesn’t quite have the qualities for the step up.

I sense Kettleson is trying to juggle between going up in a oner, and retaining players to be competitive if we don’t.

ETA: assuming that Naismith is away, County still seem to need, at least, two right backs, two centre backs, and two strikers. I’m still on the fence with their summer moves.

Would like us to take a punt on young Harry Paton, who’s been released by Hearts and tore it up with Stenny last year. Would be a good bench/backup centre mid

Same, except we have plenty at CM now. He'd start btw. Saw him several times for Stenny last year and he's really good.

Apparently we're after Marcus Fraser. Sure hes mostly been used at full back with you lot?

Assume he'll be used as a right back who can cover centrally.

By all accounts he sees himself as a centre back, and will sign contracts based on being able to play regularly there.

He's a very solid full back.  Undersized for a centre half, so he's fine against nippy skillful forwards, but gets a bit of a doing from guys like Connor Sammon.

I too would be sad to see him go, especially if we also lose Davies and Naismith.

At right back he's very solid. Not great at going forward, but does the defensive side very well. At centre half teams will just slap a big striker on him and he'll lose every single physical battle. Against smaller, trickier strikers he can do a decent job.

Best boozer for a supporters bus to book into?

We tend to just drop folk off as you come into town. You can then head up the main street or right down to the Mallard.

When we did book somewhere it was the British Legion. Same with Inverness.

Aye as was said, the Legion in dingwall has the capacity to take a couple of supporters buses, with easy parking too and a nice walk down the high street to the stadium, if not just pile into the Mallard at the train station both have Sky sports so you can watch the lunchtime matches.

What is the Brussels to Inverness flight service like? :whistle

Direct flights to Amsterdam would be the best on offer.

If Davies is away back to Hartlepool then we could be in for Frans but is he any good, thought Lindsay was the better when he was with you guy's.

I thought we'd offer Gary Warren a season or two deal if Davies left.

Frans was pretty decent. Scored a cracker at Victoria Park from about 25 yards out.  Lindsay came into his own the season after he left, imo and is the better player now.

He'll command a decent wage so I don't think we'll be able to offer the kind of package he'll be after as you'd assume he'd be after accommodation costs too.
