Expect to see more of this as the year progresses. Back in 1996, the equally flailing Tories piggy backed onto Euro 96 as they saw a slight upturn in the polls whenever England did well in sport. I'm sure someone will either be able to confirm or correct me, but I think it was Alastair Campbell who was actually rooting for Germany to beat England in the semi as they could see a bounce for the tories if England won Euro 96... with the Euros coming up and likely pre election, you can guarantee there will be some Eton educated advisors sitting round thinking how best to make the Tories not seem like total cvnt$.

Like Cameron with his Villa/West Ham nonsense, as soon as they try to seem like the 'man on the street' they spectacularly fail.

There is a theory that Harold Wilson lost the 1970 election because, Germany beat England in Mexico 4 days before the poll.

They must think the electorate are stupid.

Exactly. The strip over shirt combo is always the worst. Half expect the label hanging out.

That lib dem one is worse still as a) there is 2 pints for 4 people b) he is celebrating and no one else is and c) he is celebrating, but the TVs behind show an ongoing game.

1. Makes bet with odious c**t that he'll deport people to Rwanda

2. Claims he's not a betting man

3. Explains his fondness for spread betting.

Only lies when his lips move ... maybe. Absolute b*****d.

No, no. That can't be right. That would suggest that the PM is not entirely honest and transparent about his views on gambling.

Nobody could suggest such a thing.

He's now comforatable having snide digs about trans people in front of Brianna Ghey's mother.

You know, if Sunak had a really powerful telescope pointed straight up, and looked through it really hard, he might just manage to see the underside of contempt.  He is so far beneath it, it's quite remarkable.

He really is a pathetic, wicked politician.

Brass neck for the press and Labour to criticise him for this tbh - they're literally just complaining that in this specific instance it's impolite to be gleefully bigoted, were Ghey's mother not present they'd applaud or not even raise an eyebrow

The big issue though was that she was there.

At the start of his question, Starmer welcomed her to the house.. Sunak knew she was there...and still said it.

Whatever your views on trans people, making a cheap dig in front of a woman whose kid was murdered, and her being trans was the main factor, was utterly despicable.

Sunak knew what he was doing remember 30p Anderson comments a few weeks ago that they wanted the "culture" war front and centre in the upcoming election

Maybe he's just one of these c***s that sticks assiduously to the lines he's given. Whatever, he's quickly established himself as the latest of c**t's c***s.
