Page 18&19 of the same document you used gives the definitions. No idea what category you lot will fall into

LE, MR and TE are the three levels of disciplinary procedures, Lower end, Mid Range and Top End, and as described it is the levels of suspension and/or fines that can be awarded, however it does not explain as to the category of rule breach, red cards, yellow tot up's, violent behaviour and inelegible players etc etc etc.

The relevant part is section 12.5. It shows the crime, section 11 covers the punishment. Can’t find the section for fucking idiots.

It's an irrelevant argument in any case: there is actually no concept in the rules of a calendar of round dates set in advance (i.e. which therefore could be departed from), so the rulebook definition of "the date" is simply:

After each Cup Draw, the Scottish FA will inform each Club of the name of the Club against which it is drawn, whether it has been drawn as the Home Club or the Away Club in the tie and the date and time when the Match will be played. Subject to the terms of Competition Rule 9.8, the Board shall decide the date and the hour of kick-off of each Match.

Worth noting that if you go back some years the eligibility rules said the player must be signed by "the date fixed for playing the round" and I think this later became 12 noon upon the Saturday fixed for playing the round.

However with more games moving for TV/groundshares/etc. it's now categorically and unambiguously "the date fixed for originally playing the match".

This match was fixed for 3pm on Saturday 21st January.

20 years ago they had to have been signed for at least 14 days prior to the date of the tie!

Not that I'm still bitter and twisted after 22 years but..................

January 2001 we were due to meet Airdrie in the Scottish Cup, during Archibald's year in charge when he was signing and playing Spanish players on month to month contracts (which was allowed back then). Game was postponed and eventually played in February. In the meantime Airdrie had somehow managed to "forget" to renew all their squads contracts. They'd gone out of contract and had to all be re-signed. Technically they were all ineligible for the tie and they should have had to play their youth team. They applied for and were granted an exemption to let the players play. We were not allowed to play players who had been signed 12 days before the original tie date though (about 3 weeks before it was actually played)!

At 2-1 down and a minute to go we were awarded a penalty. Javier Sanchez Broto, who shouldn't have been playing, saved it and Airdrie broke up the park to make it 3-1 and clinch the tie. A week later later Archibald had his preferred bidder status revoked and all of the players he brought in left. They withdrew from the cup altogether, leaving Peterhead a bye to the Quarter Finals instead.

The "and/or" in each of these is interesting too.

Suspect it may mean that if you have cash then you can buy your way into remaining in the competition - convoluted and woolly worded with so much grey it'll benefit the biggest and most financially powerful clubs.

Nowhere does it read that expulsion is mandatory, therefore given the series of 'or' options it could be considered there are alternative options available.

Depends whether ICT wish to bother pushing this much too.

Why? Are the SFA to conduct their business on the hearsay of social media? Of course there needs to be a complaint.

Because if they are in charge of player registrations then the competition administration should be doing their jobs of due diligence in spotting breaches of rules without 'social media' or other clubs having to do the work for them?

Rule 303 specifically says Mandatory. It’s the small print at the bottom that makes it grey. Refer to 11.5.

Fair point, though you could extend that to written confirmation at time of registration. I doubt they have the resource for that and contract terms are normally for others to call upon. If you were sitting on the ICT board, with this knowledge and the possibility of a cup run at hand, would you really trust some wallah at the SFA to be diligent, or would you look after your club and make the call?
