On a more amusing note, a guy I know from Stirling told me there was a warrant out for his arrest once, think he'd been in a bit of bother quite regularly so knew the protocol, went to stay with a mate at the weekend and, on the advice of his lawyer handed himself into Randolphield, the police station in Stirling about 6.00 on the Monday, with the tactical move of taking two of his mums strong sleeping pills about half an hour before he went up so as he could basically snore his way through his night in the cells. Rocks up at the cop shop only to be told that the cells at Stirling police station are no longer in use, haven't been for a month or so and all the custody detainees are taken to Falkirk now before being transferred to court in the morning, only a few clerical staff in Stirling at that time so he will need to come back on the Tuesday. On his walk home to the Raploch about two miles away the heavy duty sleeping pills kicked in and, for those familiar with Stirling, by the time he got to the old cinema at Allan Park, he could barely stand up and was literally down on all fours, drawing all sorts of appalled looks from people leaving work thinking he was a jakey pished at teatime on a Monday. Also let your solicitor know so they can attend the office as well. Make sure that the police are aware that you are on medication and want to bring it with you, they may say no to that but request that they call the on call doctor who can dispense medication to you at the station. Try and arrange a time as late as possible to cut down your time in the station but don’t leave it too late as you may miss the court cutoff time for appearing the next day. I was a Police officer until I retired a few years ago but practice may have changed in the time that I have been retired. 2 hours ago, Hoose Rice said: Thanks buddy, waiting for the reply from PF from the email I sent as got this reply: As your case is at pre-conviction stage an invitation request requires to be granted by the Procurator Fiscals Office rather than a Sheriff. I have forwarded your email to them and they will respond in due course. Will take your advice if they reject it. Thanks for your help Speak to your new solicitor, get them to get you the invitation to appear. Very common that these things happen. Hopefully it gets sorted pretty quickly. In terms of surrendering yourself if they dont get you an invite, 1am, dont be later than 1am, because if you get processed after 4am (there might be a queue), you’ll be the day after. I know you’ve had your struggles hoose, it seems your solicitor has done you dirty there, i dont think, you’ll have the swat team out hunting you down, but good idea to keep your head down until you get it sorted, but dont make yourself ill. It is possible that you could get out on an undertaking if you have no history of violence etc. Hope you get it sorted.

An appropriate apostrophe might have indicated whether the amount of mums, whose sleeping pills he had appropriated was/were singular or plural.

tamthebam
If you're no a bad lad with a limited record and the warrant is for some summary pish (e.g. driving without insurance or the old breach of the peace) the PF is likely to grant you an invite to appear. I heard the rule of thumb for St Leonard's (probably applies to other capital nicks) was to hand yourself in before 4am for hope of being seen that day There's a court staff strike on Wednesday btw so maybe best to avoid that day, unless you want to help stick it to the man by causing extra work

TxRover
11 hours ago, Hoose Rice said: Does anyone know in general terms what that will entail? I've missed an appearance yesterday because my old solicitor failed to let me know my date was due, now the court have said a warrant is out and I have to email them to pass on to the sheriff to reconsider and recall the warrant. Regardless of how unfair this is I feel, does anyone know the procedure now? They wouldn't tell me much apart from I should go to a station to hand myself in if the sheriff declines. Obviously I have a fair few issues still going on mentally and it's given me a major panic having to be locked up and also with my medication etc I have no way how to deal with this so if I can prepare for what lies ahead it may not be as daunting. Thanks guys. Not to be cynical, but perhaps hiding in the River Wyre is the best choice to be missed by the police? Whoops, too early? Nevermind, take care @Hoose Rice, we won’t tell them about your stream finding skills!
