Conference League: Premiership fans' views?

Terrible idea. Isn’t just going to effect teams at Highland league level/lowlands it’s going effect championship and more so league 1 and 2. If you are throwing B teams into a league it takes away clubs loaning out their young talent to these teams as they will be required for this B teams as imagine they will snap some players who maybe drop down to championship to cut their teeth too. Al it teams will struggle to get players in to a decent standard making the lower leagues a mess and Scottish football a even bigger joke.

A quarter of Celtic B squad aren''t Scottish (6 out of 23) and Rangers B have at least 4 non Scots, so unless these players don't play, there's no way it'll benefit Scottish football like what they claim. The majority of the lower leagues don't want B teams and they make a mockery of The Challenge Cup and are often knocked out in the early rounds.

As an aside, hopefully Spartans will be dumped by Brechin as they ware in support of B teams in the Lowland League.

See this actually hinders opportunities in Scottish football for (young) Scottish players.

If it wasn’t for rich professional clubs hijacking’s the system, there would be no way that many non-Scottish players would be playing at the top of the fifth tier of our game.

I guess it depends how many were brought here by rangers and Celtic specifically to play for their B teams now they’re in the pyramid, as that flies completely in the face of the ‘developing young Scottish talent argument’, and how many are non-Scots that live here already, as you couldn’t discriminate against those players.

There is to be a vote at SFA level during the close season.

Sorry, wrong info given to me by my mate in the WOSL.

He meant to say that 3 options were put forward and 2 were rejected out of hand by the SFA leaving the one as a take it or else kinda scenario so thinks its a fait accomplit.

Let's look back to Sunday, 3 Scots started the game out of 22 at Hampden, one of which will hang up his boots this summer you'd think. of the 18 players on both benches there were a further 5. Only one featured despite both teams using up their allocation of 5 subs.

So this conference league is being driven by them and despite their Gucci training complexes at Lennoxtown and Murray Park they just can't move players up the chain in any great numbers. To what end is this being created? Is it the mythical pathway? The solution is create and crowbar another league and let their shite locals that they hoover up from everyone elses teams play there.

Firmly put this crock of shit in the bin. The reek of entitlement permeates from Glasgow throughout the land.

I would like to think that fan owned St Mirren and Motherwell will vote against this abomination. It dilutes the pyramid for the perceived benefit of the bigot twins. There are zero pros to this ridiculous idea

On this note, I've found the lack of criticism from Hearts fans disappointing. Surely they have the clout via FOH to force a rethink, or do too many of them simply not care?

Absolute nonsense idea.  Need to get back to the old Reserve League. Young players playing alongside experienced good pros getting good habits not against brickies , posties and bank workers who were never good enough to start with. Nor is sticking another unnecessary  level of teams in between League 2 and non league going to be helpful.

The folk at the SFA and the Old Firm use the defective argument that Croatia is the perfect example of B teams working: the World Cup holders, Argentina, run a 28 club reserve league involving all the top clubs.

Let supporters of the Conference League dissect that without destroying their Croatia logic.

There is already a reserve league. Why are these B teams not in it ?

Think I saw somewhere as well that from one of the recent Spain squads (can't remember how long ago I saw this, might not have even been Spain) only 2 or 3 players had played for one of the B teams; and one was the third choice keeper. Yet they're another used as an example.

Absolutely against this idea for all the reasons given.

The big 2 already have too big an advantage over every other team in the country. We dont need to be handing them another.

Time we started making decisions for the benefit of ALL of Scottish football instead of just 2 clubs (and those with delusions of grandeur).

The pyramid system was one of the few things the games administrators have got right over recent years. It needs to be allowed to function fairly and based on merit, not finance.
