I mentioned a couple of weeks back that there must be many, many more goals conceded directly from this sort of thing than goals scored by 'playing through the press'. It's the football equivalent of 'go woke, go broke', and I as a neutral am thoroughly enjoying it.

He’s not Andy Ritchie. Perhaps before your time nonetheless. I’d say it was a cross.
Deanburn Dave
Trying to "beat the press" is about risk and reward. When its pissing down the risks increase to the level it isn't worth it. Hoof ball is the best tactic.

Molotov
I’m kinda hoping Oli McBurnie turns into some kinda Zlatan tribute tonight and scores a hat trick against Harry. Long shot I know!

However, let's not overestimate the skill levels of "top level" players in the EPL. National treasure, Alexander-Arnold, put in some crosses in the earlier match that were 10-15 yards too deep for his team-mates in the penalty area.

Premier League players (not all of them) have at least an equivalent technical level of ability as Ritchie did. I'm not saying it was definitely a deliberate attempt on goal, but the case for it being a cross that got shanked 5 yards away from any credible target - from such close range, not 40 yards out at the touchline - is more questionable than 'he just saw the keeper off his line and scooped it over him'. That's the Occam's razor explanation.

Zetterlund
100% a cross from Mudryk imo. It wasn't a clean connection when you see the replay, totally sliced it to his left and toward goal.
