Although we finished second a lot of the points were banked earlier on. The squad that ended the season is probably closer to a bottom 2 than top end so i would be worried if we hadn't improved. Your point about Dipo is relevant particularly as he played almost every game apart from the last two.

I would be more confident having watched up play a decent team in the league cup but not to be. Still too many variables at the moment and we could still turn out decent but currently think a lot of grey areas need to work out right for that to happen. Although the bookies sometimes price off a single point it's a bit of a turn around from finishing second to where we are currently being viewed.

We were without both Chalmers and Mullin when we were "collecting points" and actually managed this with Ashford, McKenzie and O'Connor / JML and even Houston as integral parts of our team.

This season we are going in with Murphy (huge upgrade on anything from last season) Amartey (looks an upgrade on O'Connor and certainly JML), the same Midfield but with the addition of Pendlebury and the new RB who on paper is a massive upgrade to Houston/ McAllister / Hewitt. Over and above this Bryden looks like he's come on massively and could be pushing for a start.

Yes, we've lost Dipo, however Rose has a similar record at the same level (and has already scored in a 10 min cameo) plus there's looking like goals throughout this side and when McGeady comes in yet more quality deliveries are expected.

No, we're miles ahead of where we were at the start of last season imho......
