Some amount of shite being spouted on this thread.

In what way are Hibs a "basket case"? No worse than mid-table since promotion in 2017 and European qualification last season from a terrible manager with shite recruitment.

Any half decent manager will do well.

Good point.

Bournemouth? As in, Premier League Bournemouth? Stephen Robinson applied for that job? Twice?

Aye.

Tbf, they were in the Championship at the time and had just been relegated.

Howe had left and their managers that season were Jason Tindall then Jonathan Woodgate.

As @Stevie Kirk says he’s a well liked former player who had a strong relationship with their technical director.

I’d guess it was around the time he interviewed for the NI manager job.

Hibs are a couple of defenders and a semi-competent manager away from being absolutely fine.

Which is why you shouldn't have waited until the last week of the transfer window to sack your patently incompetent manager, with no immediate succession in place to address both issues in time.

That's Basketcase Club 101 right there.

You will be shite again soon. This is how Scottish fitba works. There's a revolving door of smaller clubs who do well for a spell then end up shite again. It's just footballing/financial gravity.

It's not long since Motherwell were regularly qualifying for Europe and making cup finals. St Johnstone had their spell in the sun, but then nearly got relegated As did Kilmarnock, and they did get relegated. In the early/mid 2000s Dunfermline were a good side, playing in Cup finals, finishing top half, playing in Europe. Back in the 90s and 2000s Raith Rovers and Falkirk had their spells in the sun.

It's all about Budgets. Unless one has a meltdown of a season,  Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen all have budgets well in excess of 7 other clubs in the league and turnovers between 12 and 15 million. It's not remotely enough to get close to Rangers but should be enough to keep them clear of the majority of the pack by May and usually a top 6 finish.

As with most clubs, there appears f**k all recruitment planning for managers beyond the immediate.  A club going from Lennon to Ross to Maloney to Johnson appears to have little focus on what they want to have beyond winning.

Us and Aberdeen are the same - poor run of results, folk want change but you have no idea what comes next beyond hoping it'll be an improvement

Just as well Greenock's finest have never been a basket case then...

However, after a poor start to the 2009–10 season, losing five of the first six league matches and with the club at the basement of the First Division, Irons contract was terminated with immediate effect on 21 September 2009, alongside the club's assistant-manager Derek Collins.[11]

After the sacking of Davie Irons, Grady was made caretaker manager of Greenock Morton alongside Allan McManus.[7] They were appointed permanently (this time with McManus as his assistant) on Halloween 2009.[8] He left Morton on 9 May 2010, after eight months in charge of the club.[9]

If you're going to attempt utterly irrelevant whataboutery, you could have at least attempted to pull a less pathetic example than that out of the bag.
