velo army
I couldn't think of a better thread title for this, so more concise and potent suggestions are welcome. The BBC website had as a byline to the Bournemouth v Newcastle game "Solanke scores first ever career goal against Newcastle" which is the latest in a long line of crap landmarks created to inflate the importance of games. Apparently Son has never scored against Wolves. Fletcher mentioned that umpteen times yesterday. Utter guff. Anyway. This is the thread for such roided up banalities.

parsforlife
First win at this ground in over 40 years! They’ve played there twice in that time , once as a lower league club in the cup.

Richey Edwards
x team has not lost by y number of goals since 19zz. Who the f**k delves that deep into such minutiae to dish up these statistics? Don't get me wrong - it throws up some nice bits of trivia and random facts but such information is essentially useless and has no bearing on anything.

I've always thought Win Percentage was weird stat for a sport with 3 outcomes. Works for Americans but reasonably half you're games could be draws.

atfccfc
I was watching Inter V Frosinone on Sunday night. And during the match they gave one about Frosinone not winning an away game in Serie A since April 2019. A grand total of 9 (now ten) games as they lost to Inter.

It's absolutely an AI thing - massive amounts of data stored on absolutely everything, with queries cross-referencing it all over the shop. But it can only give you what it's been instructed to look for. Other than for hype, that's probably why you get daft stuff slipping through like "it's been 91 years since Chipping Sodomy beat Wankingham in the league!", even though it's been 91 years since they were even IN the same league - sometimes there's no human Statto checking the relevance of this stuff. @craigkillie and @HibeeJibee require more than just electricity and occasional hardware upgrades.
