Seriously though, RIP. As you say, a sad one.

There are many heartbreaking diseases out there, particularly cancer obviously but this one is utterly incomprehensible.

You look at him and Weir and wonder why people are against assisted dying. Hamsters get a more dignified death.

I don't want to go, which mentally is a significant upgrade. If I have to though, then given the choice I want it to be on my own terms.

Ricksen, Weir, David Hagen, Burrows - all fitter than most of us will ever be - it's an absolute c'nt of a disease

I was trying to think of the right way to describe it, but I think you've nailed it. It's less than 7 years since the guy was playing out of his skin in his last game in the Super League Grand Final, two years later he was diagnosed, and then it was a matter of time. Stupid, horrible disease.

You can't help but feel for Kevin Sinfield as well

I don't think its contagious.

I have read about Stephen Darbys issues, it really is a vile disease.

Did not realise he had also been diagnosed.

Agree utterly horrendous.

Is there any sort of link between it and high level athletes?

It seems so. It's mentioned in here that footballers are six times more likely to develop MND...

I've seen it quoted that rugby players are 15 times more susceptible!

That's one I'll not need to worry about then.
