Cardle is Magic
So, Ayr were brilliant tonight, battered QP at Hampden, should have had 4 or 5 at EEP. Are they a Top 4 side with a better manager? As for Rovers, the late goals is just way beyond absurd at this stage. A good night for them with United dropping two.
Wardy
I’m definitely going full grey by the end of the season, Jesus Christ. Stanton signs new 2 year deal, then gets injured. Absolute standard Raith Rovers. Just hope he’s ok. Definitely an off night, but still managed to squeeze a point out of it at the death (again) Great for Vaughan getting another senior hattrick. Couple of great headers too. The less said about the Ayr goals the better… Defence the poorest I’ve seen. All of them bar Millen (who I thought was actually ok) Juan didn’t get to grips with the game, and the midfield after Stanton went off was posted missing for large spells and very stand offish. United drawing so still the status quo with another game done. Can’t grumble too much, but still frustrating non the less. Merry Christmas to all.
CrossgatesCynic
Just a mental result. Rovers very fortunate to come away with anything, really. Struggled to see anywhere on the park tonight where Rovers had the extra man. Bit frustrating that.

We would be in a far better position if we had a more tactically astute manager in the dugout. His decisions are wild. The prime example tonight being taking off Amartey, who was running Raith ragged and didn't seem to be fading at all and replacing him with meat and potatoes Mark McKenzie. Just as bad was taking off Dowds, whose physicality and determination to bully CB's caused Rovers all kind a of problems, and replaced him with teenager Fraser Bryden. The fact that Amartey has hardly been on the pitch at all this season is evidence enough that Bullen is pretty clueless a lot of the time. callum-ayr
Thought Senga was immense at centre half, could be the answer going forward if he was to put a consistent run of form in there. His clearance for a corner stopped an almost certain goal for Hamilton.
Raith69
Certainly not a good night at the office and missed opportunity for us to increase our lead over united but on the plus side nothing lost against them either. As a side note does Byrne's booking now mean we lose him to a suspension?
SanStarko
Where do you even start with that. Haven't a clue what we were upto defensively. It was like everybody had watched clips of Murray in his first spell here when he would constantly keep backing off when players were running at him and they all decided to do the same thing for the entire game. Lots of guys seemed to have an off game but Ayr played some really nice stuff and came out for the second half going for it, helped by us being all over the place. You'd have genuinely thought it was Ayr who had the extra man in the second half. But another last minute winner equaliser which is huge again. Losing the 4th from an error from Kev after getting ourselves back level you'd have almost forgiven them if their heads dropped. But they just keep going and it's big point given Utd failed to win. Still 5 points clear and another home game next weekend, can't complain. Although can we please just have a nice boring comfortable 2-0 win soon? Jilted John
I was massively impressed with Ayr United tonight and we were lucky to come away with a point. They exposed the fact we only had Byrne in the deep lying midfield role time and time again. Mcgeady scored because of it and Amartey was lucky not to get one from the same area of weakness too! Bad night at the office for a few of our players tonight but so pleased to see Vaughan get 3!

AyrAtlanta
A thoroughly enjoyable game of football in every sense. Well worth the trip. Would’ve been shiting myself if we were near the bottom or the top but was relaxed enough to really appreciate it. Could hear the contact in McGintys tackle from the top row of the stand. Red for me. Amartey is so fucking good and is probably wondering what he has to do to play 90 minutes. Bullen will get the plaudits from this but none of that was his doing. A lot of individual brilliance and some strong defensive showings especially Senga and Ahui.
AUcal
Aye, Senga was impressive at CB. Ahui was immense. Credit to him, he's had some excellent performances recently, great to see.

Richey Edwards
BTW I may have got carried away earlier in the thread and used crude language. I do apologise. Anyway, a draw in itself while having 10 men for over half of the game is a decent result but it feels somewhat anticlimactic and disappointing after leading the game.
mrpaddyx
That was pretty frustrating this evening. Ayr were better than us for much of the game and looked a different team to the one we beat earlier in the season. The concept of playing Brown in defence needs to end. He just isn’t a central defender and I suspect he is played there so that we can fit others into midfield. Watson is apparently near match fitness and we have options with Corr and O’Reilly meaning he shouldn’t have to play there.

Craigus
Murray saying it like it is/was. Got away with it tonight. Sounds hopeful on the Stanton front that it won't be a long term issue. Ayr looked very handy with 10 men and the kind of freedom that brought. Still, we conceded 4 from about 5 shots on goal and all from distance. Strangely lethargic from us tonight. We go again
