We tend to bring in a local ref on the morning of the game to test the pitch and they'll have passed it. The ref will have turned up at around quarter to 2 and did a pitch inspection and deemed it completely unplayable. The pictures don't look too great but the video of the ball bouncing in the goalmouth doesn't look like it's not fixable within the hour. I'd also argue it doesn't even look too bad! Our pitch has been a shambles for a couple of seasons now. Horrific really. But I don't know if this is a case of naivety from the club or over officiousness from the ref that's led to this particular shambles. Probably a bit of both tbh but equally, the bigger issue is the fact that our pitch is continually a fucking shambles with a light drizzle.
