Alloa vs Montrose

Recommended Posts

Clearly a huge amount of interest in this one… Taking the train down and would be happy enough leaving with a 1-0 win for Montrose no matter how we get it.

More importantly, anywhere specific that’s worth going for a pint and some food pre match?

Do your drinking in Stirling, Alloa is not very nice!

Old Brewery usually offer a discount for people going to the game but not sure if it's for home fans only.

We've been coupon busters the past couple of weekends and performed well in both games. Hopefully we can keep it going and get another 3 points.

Hopefully Steven will be fit enough to return.

Couple minutes of madness happened. We were good today but failed to do the thing that great teams can do... kill the game. Andy said almost exactly what I said in the disappointed atmosphere of the Alloa press box... coming up as soon as I get my dinner.

In tech news, my connection at the club...

Frustrating outcome after a decent performance. Thought we were the better side in the first half without creating many clear cut chances. Montrose started the second half better after their changes and with Scougall having gone off for Alloa, but we overcame that and the introduction of Buchanan turned the game back in our favour. He scored an excellent goal from a great O'Donnell cross before creating the second for Wales, who finished really well. Delighted for Wales to finally get his goal.

That should have been that but we switched off for a really cheap goal from a free kick into the box, and almost immediately let in an even worse one when Lyons should have been stopped long before getting his shot away. Might still have won it with a Wales effort cleared off the line.

2 points dropped but we're very clearly going in the right direction under Andy Graham. We look like a team with a shape and a plan and players are deployed where they are at their most effective. There will be ups and downs but plenty to be optimistic about.

Credit to Montrose on digging out an unlikely point.

Thought we looked good defensively for the majority of the game but no idea how Lyon was gifted that much space, then nobody seemed to want to tackle him. Think we should stick with this back four when they are all available.

Agree we were better first half with Montrose improving in the second half.

Few questionable calls from the ref too. Coulson getting booked for diving and Hetherington getting a yellow card when it looked him it was him that was fouled.

Happy for Wales to get his first goal, hopefully see him get some more before he goes back to Killie.

Really enjoyed the game. Not that much between the teams although we deserved the win and losing the goals the way we did, Lyons' especially, was sore. Credit to Montrose and Lyons though.

Alloa looked solid throughout the team, with wee Kev again thriving in a freer/more central role. Our movement generally was good in attack through Kev, Wales, Scougs in particular.

Great to see Wales get his goal (after cracking work from Buchanan). The other players and the fans were delighted for him.

Roberts and Hetherington again put in good shifts, as did Devine and Neill. That latter pairing looks like it could become stronger as they play more games together.

Thought the ref was actually very good, playing a good advantage for our first goal. Also thought he got both "dive" decisions correct (Coulson then Lyons) although each was tricky. Having said that, I thought the Montrose player rather than Stevie H deserved yellow when O'Donnell was booked - could be Stevie said something, he certainly wasn't pleased with the tackle.

Agree with @Waspie that

We look like a team with a shape and a plan and players are deployed where they are at their most effective. There will be ups and downs but plenty to be optimistic about.
