Their choice to do so, must have considered the risk, given even if the company stayed in business it would be a building site for a while. No one chooses to lose their job. What about voluntary redindancy?

SMG sold a big part of the business (manufacturing A frames) but kept the development business.
Melanius Mullarkey
Here's wiggy's hoose if you want to buy it. https://search.savills.com/property-detail/gbabrsabs210068 Absolutely horrendous gaff. Tacky, cheap looking. ETA he does appear to have a 5-a-side pitch though. Edited January 10 by Melanius Mullarkay

It's usually some soulless all-white echoing airplane hangar (see Grand Designs). At least its not before Christmas. He'll have his new company on the go by mid Feb and most of the workforce will be back in on three quarters of their wages beforehand.

The saddest thing about it is that he somehow got permission to demolish the original house on the site in order to build that monstrosity. If I remember correctly, it was a very nice old building - previously owned by Princess Di’s granny supposedly. The kind of building you can imagine being listed. I wonder how he managed to get the kind of permission that most would be denied? Edited January 10 by Tattie36
Musketeer Gripweed
https://www.scottishconstructionnow.com/articles/stewart-milne-groups-administration-unveils-ps350m-debt-pile Why the f**k were they allowed to build up such debt?

Because it was cheap, the Bank kept offering and he kept taking. Then interest rates went up, increasing the debt pile and boom.
Ned Nederlander
I know this thread's primarily about the building group but my favourite Stuart Milne thing is when he exited Hampden close to tears because Stuart Gilmour & Roy Mcgregor scuppered his league reconstruction hopes And they only managed it because Stuart Milne himself kyboshed scrapping the 11/1 vote What a fucking tool. Quote It also reveals SMG’s founder and chairman, constuction entrepreneur and former Aberdeen Football Club chairman Stewart Milne, owned 77% of the business before transferring his shares to a Bank of Scotland subsidiary – HSDL Nominees – prior to Teneo’s appointment. I assume this means he'll be ok and not short of any money?
