Greens obviously wouldn't work with her, but the Tories probably would, which would be comedy gold.

She'd struggle to get confirmed by Parliament as FM without them, which they might well do to avoid an immediate Holyrood election.

She'd be gift to Labour in the General Election too for the leftie vote.

Not sure if she could scrape through on culture warrior Ash, giving Alba the balance of power, probably the most frightening prospect of all.

Would Swinney lead the SNP into another election in 2026 or will plan be he stands down b4 that to let a new leader go into that?

I think the latter, to stop Kate Forbes or anyone else forcing another lengthy and embarrassing contest now, with a Westminster election incoming. Swinney will get Green backing too so no worries about the FM confirmation.

Didn’t you vote for Forbes last time around?

I switched back and forth, think I finally settled on Yousaf but I could be wrong. I definitely wouldn't vote for her now.

To be fair to her & unlike a lot of right leaning politicians else where. She did make it clear that her personal religious and social views would not shape her policies and she had no plans to change any lgbt laws in place.

That's simply not good enough, though, and saying it doesn't mean it would be the case. How could it be? You can't divorce deep-held personal beliefs from opining on difficult social questions.

To be fair to her, she shouldn't really be in politics never mind trying to take charge of a country with the completely fruitloop views she holds.

She said she would have voted against the same sex marriage bill so that doesn’t stack up. She’s a despicable person.

I notice Swinney taking a lot of heat for his baldicity in the Humza thread, but I reckon if you measured the surface area of his entire bonce against Kate's forehead, it'd be neck and neck as to who's boasting the most exposed cranial skin.

Torrie who wore a yellow rosette to get in.

Her views would undoubtedly infect her politics and voting. Coversion therapy is lunacy.  LGBT and abortion are all politically sensitive issues. Thankfully she would be unlikely gain support to roll any laws back.

There's no doubt that Forbes has the intelligence and quick fire ability to hold her own against the likes of Dross, however her beliefs are firmly in a time past which will always be brought up and into political discussion. And I know that if she was elected there would be resignations close to the core.

Middle of the road, and hugely popular within the party, John Swinney will probably become FM, he has noticeably taken time out in the last year, the reason should now be obvious.

I note that Angus Robertson has been mentioned earlier, he may stand but as far as I know he is quite happy in his present role between Parliament and the Scottish office in Brussels.

This thread opened with a bit of casual misogyny and has struggled to raise itself beyond the performative in the interim. Nevertheless, perhaps there is scope for some balanced debate.

She'd be daft to take it at this point anyway, let the bald fraud handle the decline in the short to mid term.

She undoubtedly has a decent level of support from the membership though.

As opposed to sensible policies like allowing children to transition without their parents consent.
