invergowrie arab
Just Keir Starmer calling for the bank holiday on International Workers Day to be moved to people can celebrate the coronation.

Guest Jedi
Labour's Immigration Policy (behind the easy Rachel Reeves headline). Scrap the mad Rwanda plan of the Tories Replace the EU's Dublin Agreement to include safe returns and family reunion Lift the ban on the right to work for asylum seekers Go for a points based system of immigration (no further info on how this will work, what the points will be based on etc) And....that's about it at present.....designed to be deliberately vague.
Guest Jedi
Surely now when the major cuts to public services are to be announced, a £28 billion investment in green energy, windfall tax on the energy giants, ending the non-dom tax freedoms, cracking down on tax avoidance by serial non-(large) tax payers, charging private schools VAT etc, doesn't look so 'outlandish'. Labour will no doubt come under pressure on how they keep the debt down without making cuts though...will there be tax rises? Difficult to see how they could change the Tories tax plans by that much from the 20p, 45p etc. Corporation tax at 25% could probably come down a bit with a Labour govt. The Tories will still be hoping to hand over a wasted economy, in order to see Labour making the 'difficult decisions' on spending. Am still confident that the 'headline' policies will be enacted though.
CambieBud
Labour NI Shadow Minister made a speech today where he called on Labour to fully embrace Brexit. He said they cannot win an election by being soft on the issue. So to hell with the millions of young people who want to be back in Europe. It’s about winning at any cost

At the moment they don't really need to be trying to win over the racist scum voters.

Hedgecutter
Hopefully a bit of pressure on Starmer today to absolutely annihilate Truss at PMQs. If he can't give the Tories an epic kicking today, he clearly never will.
Boo Khaki
Wonder if he'll Corbyn it and start banging on about Amnesty International or something?

Doesn't want to kick an organisation he admires.
Benjamin_Nevis
Surely Truss won't turn up to PMQs. She's going to spend the whole session being laughed at, and she knows it

That would really wind up the Tories who want her out in the next few days....play the long(er) game and let internal Tory bickering force her out - let your enemy destroy itself. It will be amusing watching all the Tories in the chamber not sure if they want to be seen on TV backing her or hounding her out (thinking of you DRoss...this is another flag up / flag doon day)
Salt n Vinegar
Labour at BOTH Westminster and Holyrood should treat the Tories with at least the same contempt as Mark Drakeford did the other day. The virtual non-aggression pact between Sarwar and Dross (and the risible LibDems) is revolting.
GiGi
Starmer was having some good digs the other day. I'm sure he won't let up since all the punchlines are writing themselves these days. As previously said though instead of finding it funny he should be fucking fuming at them for wrecking the country. Dunning1874
Have to say, it's rare enough that they're due praise but putting forward a motion on fracking was genius strategically. They couldn't have picked anything more likely to detonate the Tory backbenches like that.
Granny Danger
I read that (the multi millionaire since leaving office) Tony Blair is claiming the full annual PDCA of £115,000. This is an annual amount that comes out of our pockets.
