Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...

Back to censored lyrics.

Electric 6's Gay Bar has a line in it that goes "Let's start a war! Start a nuclear war!". On the radio the words 'war' and 'nuclear' are censored out with a silly sound effect.

Wheatus' Teenage Dirtbag has a line that contains "he brings a gun to school". The word 'gun' is censored.

I always find it amusing that they do this whilst songs about getting pumped (Rhianna's Rude Boy for example) are played in full.

In Eminem/Rihanna's Love the Way You Lie, they used to bleep out 'fucking' in the line 'If she ever tries to fucking leave again, I'm going to tie her to the bed and set the house on fire'.

Clearly the word f**k is more upsetting than the idea of tying her up and murdering her.

No, it was Dele who described a T-shirt as fancy dress. Which is why I didn't realise he was talking about me at first.

And going to a convention is childish? If you say so.

It was never in his house but you're right, it's now in a converted cinema.

Well, he was eccentric but we're back on mocking people with different interests. Anyway that guy died years ago and his grandson runs it now.

Precisely, which is why I’m wondering why you brought it up whilst quoting me?

For the second part, I think it’s a bit childish going to things like ComicCon yeah, but I have no problem with people doing it. You seem to be really struggling with the idea that you can’t laugh at/belittle other people for supposedly acting childish when you’re more than guilty of it yourself. Maybe you will grow up slightly and recognise that, and allow yourself to be a more understanding person rather than mocking people who find different things enjoyable or funny.

So you're saying you have no problem about him going to a comedy convention once a year, but it means he can never call a childish joke childish? Right. You've got very strict rules.

This is shite. Can the protagonists start alias accounts and get some private messages going.

I'm not responding any further. Honest Man apparently has no problem with me going to the L&H convention so I'll settle for that. No doubt he does things that wouldn't be to my taste (not saying they're wrong in any way) but there's no point in getting into that.

He can feel free to call whatever he wants childish, but can’t then get all offended when someone calls him out on it like he’s done here.

Calling people "mate".  In my work people call each other "mate" all the time and it's kind of passive aggressive and annoying.  You get two sided conversations where they call each other "mate" every time and it's obvious that they are both raging.  Mate mate mate mate mate.

If you've ever worked in a kitchen, calling someone "my friend" means they are a w****r.

People are doing it right now in the my work's chat page.

"Mate, why haven't you let people know about that?"

"Well, mate, there's not been any updates on that since the last update so I thought I'd wait until later to send something out"

"To be honest, mate, we need more regular updates mate"

"Mate, I've got a call at 3, mate, and I'll send, mate, an email after, mate, then.  Mate"

Both clearly raging at each other and yet try to deflect this by saying "mate".

Personally I use the term "comrade" or "brother" when addressing my colleagues.
