Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...

To be honest with you, European views and American views are so different with regards the subject of guns and such that there is little point arguing it. Both sides have some valid and some hyperbolic components...and are literally un-understandable by someone from the other culture. It takes a person who has lived in both cultures to even approach any decent understanding, and even then it's beyond explanation in less than a novella.

We still get physical rentals. Thing called Redbox which is a big red machine that sits outside the supermarket and dispenses DVDs/BluRays for $2.25 a night. You go and load them back in when you’re done with them and it’ll charge your card for however long you’ve had it.

If you still do, then not for much longer.

Redbox bust

You'd think someone would have told Robin he had a mop on his head in the bottom right pic before going on air.

Aye, I'm sure you're right.

A quirk of where I lived was that most of us got Grampian TV but a very small number were able to get STV as there flats were at a certain position which enabled them to get STV rather than Grampian. STV always seemed to be better so I was well jealous of them.

Had one of those B&W portables as a kid. On a Sunday, in the days before football was everywhere, could take the portable to my aunts the other side of Irvine, and you could get Ulster as well as STV, and the big match had a live  English football game. Think it was Ernie Walker that had banned it being shown on STV.

Grampian TV had a competition called "Paint a Puffer" for kids. You had to do a picture of a steam train.

The 5 year old Tam was living in the area at the time and did a painting (which he thought was rather good). I can't remember what the first prize was but I won a Grampian TV car sticker which left me a bit underwhelmed.

Streaming funerals is becoming more common. Helps if you have family overseas who can't make it in person, or if you have relatives who are housebound.

Or are topless.

Web design like this.

Its 2024 FF

Apparently there's a bit of nostalgia going on with web design at the moment. Companies wanting sites that deliberately look like the old days, and hipsters enjoying their awfulness ironically.

Here's a couple of crackers:

https://arngren.net/
https://www.lingscars.com/

You'll notice that they've actually used modern technologies to make them look that bad, and they do stuff that sites from the Nineties couldn't. It's a choice.

Honestly I could read anything. Maybe I’m too old for that shit.

Took the bus from Podgorica to Dubrovnik as, perhaps the cheapest way home to the UK. Scenery absolutely stunning, by the way.....

Have a bit of acid reflux, which I manage by a bit of tactical chundering. Nothing ever more than 100 ml or so, however, does settle the stomach down.

Montenegrin boy not happy when I chundered outside his plastic cabin. Rants and gesticulates, pointing as if 'go and chunder in someone else's country'.

Fact is that the no man's land between Montenegro and Croatia is larger than the Korean DMZ.....
