Think I should change my avatar since Alfie has signed for Red Wings. Bobby Ryan might be a good replacement though.

Bobby Ryan should score at least 90 points yearly, but he is just lazy and unfocused so often. He was ready to get out of Anaheim for about two years and publicly admitted to letting media rumors and attention get in the way of playing hockey. So, yeah, he's going to love Canadian hockey coverage.

Ilya Kovalchuk just retired from the NHL leaving $77M on the table. At first I was confused until I saw he's rumoured to have been offered somewhere between $10-20M per season tax free to play in the KHL.

Huge blow for the Devils.

KHL really on the up now. I really believe they'll turn to more European teams outwith the norm in the next few years. London seems to be a name they are interested in. Just little rumours mind you, but it could have potential.

Leafs beat Canadiens in a feisty opening day match. Will this be our year? (4-1 against Montreal in this fixture, so maybe playoffs at best).

Hopefully not :P

been looking forward to the new season for a month or so. Last night my sky goes on the blink and my recordings for the games last night failed. Raging.

Got tickets for Kings @ Sharks in November. Cannot wait to head back to Shark Tank. Good opening win against Vancouver.

I watched this game. I might adopt San Jose as a west Coast team, good to watch. Thought Tortorella got his tactics way wrong, but the Canucks won 6-2 last night. So what do I know.

Disappointing SO loss for The Sens last night. But a point in Toronto with our top line misfiring isn't a disaster.

Sharks won again winning 4-1. Seem to have a find in rookie Tomas Hetel. Assist in his first NHL game then two goals in his 2nd.

Great start for him, and he always seems to be enjoying himself on the ice. He couldn't have asked for a better chance when starting his NHL career - on a line with Joe Thornton and Burns (who also tend to avoid the opposition's top line and get plenty of offensive-zone starts). He's being given every opportunity to do well, and hopefully he can carry on his great start over the season.
