Swampy
Literally, you may have a point but in the context, I think there’s plenty wrong with it. It’s all part of the anti Irish/Catholic attitude. Why else would Scottish fitba fans sing about such an event? You could also say GSTQ isn’t sectarian but it’s pretty obvious the **** love for the idle rich is more to do with the Act of Settlement than anything genuine. Ditto with their over the top adoration for the British state having more to do with it’s rule in the Irish 6 counties. I do see where you're coming from but at the same time I think restricting what history is OK to sing about would not be a good move. As such I think trying to demonise songs like these is wrong. Hebridean
Some folk think "We Are the People" is biggoted as it professes a "superiority of the Protestant people" who frequent Ibrox. That's certainly the best explanation that I've heard. Strangely whenever you ask a Person about it they tend to clam up a bit. Hold on!................ "We are the people" wasn't plucked out of thin air by Rangers fans. It actually IS a loyalist slogan.

Clachan Blue
The correct words are never sung, and remind me how the other ones go??? The correct words are now sung. I realise that this wasn't the case but the FTP part is no longer sung. The words to the others are - Follow Follow Though the straits be broad or narrow It's Follow we will, Follow we will, Follow we will Though the straits be broad or narrow, It's Follow we will We will Follow in the footsteps of our team - God bless them Follow Follow we will Follow Rangers Everywhere, anywhere we will Follow on Dundee, Hamilton, Aberdeen and back again If they go to Dublin we will Follow on For There's not a team like the Glasgow Rangers No not one and there never shall be one Celtic know all about their troubles We will fight till the day is done For there's not a team like the Glasgow Rangers No not one and there never shall be one... Every other Saturday Every other saturday's my half day off and it's off to the match I go Happily we wander down the Copland Road, Me and my wee pal Joe We love to see the lassies with the blue scarf's on We love to hear the boys all roar But I don't have to tell you that the best of all We love to see the Rangers score Me Oh, me oh, me oh my Oh how we love to see them cry We love to see the lassies with the blue scarf's on We love to hear the boys all roar But I don't have to tell you that the best of all We love to see the Rangers score... Blue sea of Ibrox I have sailed the wild Atlantic Crossed the broad pacific shore I've sailed around the stormy capes And heard the forty's roar I've plied the Indian ocean I've sailed the China sea But there's a sea back home in Scotland More than all the rest to me It's the blue, blue, blue sea of Ibrox It's the greatest sight That I have ever seen It's the blue, blue blue sea of Ibrox And it's part of every Rangers players dream... Plus some others - Who's that team? Some people say that Real Madrid's the greatest football team I've even heard the Anderlecht The best they've ever seen There's Manchester United And Tottenham Hotspur too There's Arsenal, Chelsea, Blackpool Just to name a famous few But who's that team they call the Rangers Who's that team they all adore They're the boys in royal blue And they're Scotland's gallant few And they're out to show the world what they can do So bring on the Hibs and Hearts and Celtic Bring on Spaniards by the score Barcelona, Real Madrid they will make a gallant bid For we're out to show the world what we can do We're that team they call the Rangers We're that team they all adore We're the boys in royal blue And we're Scotland's gallant few And we're out to show the world what we can do So bring on the Hibs and Hearts and Celtic Bring on Spaniards by the score Barcelona, Real Madrid they will make a gallant bid For we're out to show the world what we can do... Loyal and True When the whistle blows and the floodlights glow Then the Rangers fans will put on a show When the stands vibrate and the rafters ring We'll be doing the bouncy, and you'll hear us sing I am a blue nose, loyal and true I'm proud to wear the red white and blue Strong as a rock with standards high I am a teddy bear till the day I die Now the greatest game is on new years day When the boys in the hoops come along to play But we'll send them homeward shedding their tears As they hear this chorus ringing in their ears I am a blue nose, loyal and true I'm proud to wear the red white and blue Strong as a rock with standards high I am a teddy bear till the day I die I am a blue nose, loyal and true I'm proud to wear the red white and blue Strong as a rock with standards high I am a teddy bear till the day I die... Can you give me a clue? I'm really not sure. I've definitely heard it on the Celtic tannoy before European games, and last night's song was the same tune, but I couldn't make out the words. It isn't the "James McGrory and Paul McStay" one.

There is generally a few songs played in sequence so not 100% sure which one you are referring to. Can you give me a clue? Whilst the original intentions of the line "if they go to Dublin we will follow on" might not be sectarian, you can probably see how easily it could be misconstrued, either by Rangers or Celtic fans. If more people took out the add ons and made further inroads into eradicating the sectarian problem, I don't think so many people would be trying to refute the suggestion that Rangers are trying hard. Also the eejit doing the Nazi salute isn't going to help, but hopefully it's a minority, if it's even anything more than one pathetic individual making a complete cock of himself

We don't have a song with that tune, definitely not one which is played over the tannoy. The general songs before the game is a sequence of Blue Sea of Ibrox, Follow Follow etc (songs as above) and then as the teams come out its Simply the Best (which no longer gets the add-ons either) or the tune from The Omen (think thats what it is anyway, quite common in football grounds). Last night was just the same as above then the Champions League anthem, so I'm not sure at all which one you mean.

No, it wasn't over your tannoy. It's one Celtic play over their tannoy prematch, but which the Rangers fans clearly have a version of, which you were singing in the second half.
