Benjamin_Nevis
England will probably stagger to a draw, especially after the Kohli drop, however any notion of a "brave rearguard" should be immediately consigned to the bin. As @peasy23 says above, it's an utter nonsense that England almost immediately get the perceived most dangerous remaining batter out who they had probably feared might add a quick 30, only to end up conceding a 9th wicket stand of 89, India actually being able to declare, and in a position where they can only save a game that they should have absolutely scooshed. Completely gutless, bottleless stuff. Were it not for Root these clowns would be around Sri Lanka levels of shite.

Not only that but really poor levels of sportsmanship this morning from Root and Buttler in the incidents with Bumrah. Dare I say it but the sort of behaviour that Kohli is regularly vilified for on here. Horrible c***s?

Jimi Shandrix
I've rarely seen Kohli as rattled as just then. I wonder what it was that Robinson said to him. Mmmm.......

Jimi Shandrix
That was a truly magnificent performance from Siraj especially on the last day. England threw it away with two or three of their more experienced players indulging in some real shitebaggery behaviour instead of trying to win the game.

peasy23
Fantastic performance from India, well deserved win & a reminder that Test Matches are the pinnacle of the game.Unfortunately, as long as the ECB make it so hard for players to get time playing red ball cricket then it's hard to see how it's the pinnacle. Little wonder so many batsmen struggle to play any kind of defensive game when for the bulk of the rest of the year they are only trying to whack it around the ground.England's tactics this morning were baffling, and Root has said maybe he could have tried different tactics. The concern for me is that nobody on the field appeared to question them at the time. Fair enough to give Bumrah a couple of overs of short stuff as payback for the other day, but then it has to be to get back to the task in hand and bowl at the top of off stump. If it's good enough to get the proper batsmen out then it should be good enough to get out guys who average 3.Even after that though, England should still have been able to put the shutters up and get a draw. The fact they couldn't is down to Root being the only batsman worthy of the name. A couple were done by really good balls, but not that many.
Boo Khaki
Hilariously pathetic from England. The batting will be slated for yet another collapse, but it can't be overlooked that collectively they bowled an absolute pile of pish at one of the longest tails in Test cricket. I sometimes think Test cricketers are guilty of forgetting the very basics. Even my park side knows that when the opposition rabbits are at the crease, you go back to school cricket and bowl every delivery at the stumps. This morning was just idiotic, no other way to describe it really.

Well summed up, although his bowling seems to be on the wane I think Stuart Broad was sorely missed in the brains trust at a pivotal time this morning.

Absolutely right to give Bumrah some short stuff as payback for the other day but bafflingly this didn't seem to be enough for Root and Buttler who seemed more intent on entering in a war of words with Bumrah who, to his credit, didn't get too involved. The game was lost there and then. Not a particularly good idea to wind Kohli up and this incident and whatever it was that Ollie Robinson said later in the day certainly did that.
die hard doonhamer
What a fucking shambles. An absolute disgrace to be losing that match from the position they were in this morning. English red ball cricket needs an overhaul.

An absolute disgrace to be losing that match from the position they were in this morning. English red ball cricket needs an overhaul. The ECB threw away any focus on red ball cricket a few years ago when they set their stall out to win the world cup. The test team has been in decline since then. While the punters and sponsors are still handing over cash they won’t change anything. They never changed the structure of the domestic game to produce better red ball cricketers until the main sponsor pulled out. If I remember correctly Vodafone then stepped in and only because the chairman of the ECB was either on their board or had recently left their board.
