peasy23
The second wicket partnership hit 22 off 15 balls which suggests that they were attacking that target in more of a hurry than was strictly appropriate Would imagine they thought they had to keep the run rate up as it could end up deciding the placings in the section.

Fuctifano
Nepal up next for Scotland on Thursday, win that and we're through to the super six. Any hope of coming in the top 2 overall we'll need to beat Zimbabwe as the points are carried forward against the other 2 qualifiers.
Guest Moomintroll
Disgraceful that the bar is set so high to qualify in the first place, sure that there will be moves from the ICC to increase the associate members places after this qualification cycle since their anointed faves have been pushed aside.

Frankie S
Slight wobble as Scotland now 97/4. Coetzer anchoring the innings with a steady 46 from 81. We should have enough batting left to pass this modest target fairly comfortably. Elsewhere, Afghanistan in a bit of bother against Hong Kong. Might be on their way out of the tournament, Edited March 8, 2018 by Frankie S

Might be on their way out of the tournament, West indies are 141/4 against PNG chasing 200 with 16 overs to go They'll probably get that but they're 10 runs off the pace that PNG set in their innings The Netherlands UAE game is still close as well In fact this whole tournament seems full of well matched fixtures
topcat(The most tip top)
Put the champagne down folks but keep it cold Scotland 124/6 with 13 overs to go Coetzer has 63 from 118 balls
topcat(The most tip top)
40th over 15 runs required Sharif gets a single to put Coetzer on strike The captain hits 10 of the next two balls picks up a single and waits his turn to deliver the coup de grace in the 41st He leaves a couple and then hits a six to kill it off With Nepal and Afghanistan already having lost twice Scotland are now certain of going into the super six and one would expect the match against Zimbabwe to matter in terms of the super six table instead of the group table
topcat(The most tip top)
Meanwhile Afghanistan are in serious trouble against Hong Kong The Required Run Rate has crept up to 8.35 Afghanistan require another 103 runs with 4 wickets and 12.2 overs remaining Mohammad Nabi is a hero of Afghanistan cricket and there's still hope while he's in but with no other genuine batsmen left to help him this is surely too much for him

Sloop John B
Afghanistan have been awful this tournament, getting bodied by HK with a largely full strength team compared to others. It’s a little bit of a blow for us for them not getting through as their more likely to cause Ireland or WI to lose than Hong Kong or Nepal if they ever decide to show up. The Dutch lost to the UAE as well so they’ll need to beat PNG and the West Indies to have any chance of getting through. Certainly going a lot better than expected for Scotland.

The rain came in and Hong Kong won under Duckworth Lewis Scotland are 3 out of 3 with Zimbabwe to play Zimbabwe are 2/2 with Hong Kong and Scotland to play HK are 1/2 with Zimbabwe and Nepal to play Nepal are 0/2 with Afghanistan and Hong Kong to play Afghanistan are 0/3 with Nepal to play Scotland could still finish in a three way tie break situation if we lose our remaining fixture and HK win both of theirs. Afghanistan aren't out yet but they need three games to go the right way (Afghanistan beat Nepal, Nepal beat Hong Kong & Zimbabwe beat Hong Kong) for it to go down to run rates
topcat(The most tip top)
Over in Group B nobody is technically through yet but PNG are out and the top 3 looks nailed on Ireland 2/2 with West Indies & United Arab Emirates to play Windies 2/2 with Ireland & Netherlands to play UAE 2/3 with Ireland to play Netherlands 0/2 with Papua New Guinea & West Indies to play Papua New Guinea 0/3 with Netherlands to play The Dutch are essentially reliant on the West Indies trouncing Ireland on Saturday to go through and then going on the piss for two days

They seem to be just having a poor tournament. Unfortunately the Netherlands pipped Scotland into 2nd place in the World Cricket League Championship (competition for associate nations) 2015-17. This guaranteed the Netherlands entry to a 13-team ICC ODI League, which starts in 2020. The 13 teams being the 12 full members (including the two sides promoted from the associate ranks to test status in 2017 - Ireland and Afghanistan) and the Netherlands. So they're guaranteed 24 ODIs against full members over the period 2020-2022. That will dwarf Scotland's programme, which will likely see us scratching around, as usual, trying to fix up the occasional warm up fixture at the Grange against sides touring England. As the calendar of the top 13 will be busier than ever, it's likely that our opportunities to play the top nations will be even scarcer than normal. It's vital that we qualify for the 2019 World Cup, because sitting in 15th place in the ODI rankings (3rd of the associates), as we currently do, is of negligible benefit in terms of securing fixtures against the top nations. Lichtie78
Bancroft now had 10 innings at the top of the order, no hundreds to his name and an average of 26. Renshaw scoring plenty runs for Queensland recently so he’ll be breathing down his neck. Khawaja not been great either but his big score at the SCG has bought him some time to get in decent nick.
