Especially when 15-2 seems to be about their par score for the second wicket.
peasy23
Restart at 4pm. England need to break this partnership quickly.
dorlomin
Smith and Labuschagne seem ready to dig in and pile on the runs.
peasy23
Smith and Labuschagne seem ready to dig in and pile on the runs. I'm struggling to think of a player who has come in mid series and had the impact that Labuschagne has had.Was just reading the stats on Twitter that Broad has pitched the ball up more this summer than he has ever done previously, as a result it has given him his best average to date.
peasy23
Standard 50 up for Smith. Play can go on to 7.30 but I would think that's very unlikely as it's still very dull.Cracking ball from Overton gets Labuschagne for 67, 144-3 now.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Overton bowls Labuschagne. Partnership broken finally.
peasy23
England waste a review after Stokes traps Head with a yorker, but it would have failed on two counts as both the pitch and the impact were outside leg stump. Looks like one more over before tea.
peasy23
Australia 170-3 at tea. Head on 18 and Smith on 60. It was a very stop start session with lots of litter blowing across the ground and the bails repeatedly being blown off. At one point they were playing without bails. They are putting the hover cover on as a precaution but it looks pretty grim at the moment, even if it doesn't rain then light will be an issue I would think. Edit: rain on and covers going on, that might be it for the night.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Good day overall for Australia IMO. Harris shouldn’t have been playing, and that showed when he got out cheaply again. Warner once again out to Broad. Labuschagne and Smith steadied the ship and Smith didn’t seemed bothered by Archer despite the media’s best attempts to create a mythical rivalry just because Archer hit him on the helmet. Thought the bowlers were pretty average apart from Broad. Archer didn’t have his usual spark as he really struggled in the conditions. Overton grew into the game and bowled a great ball to get Labuschagne out. Leach and Stokes had some good spells but overall nothing special from most of the bowlers in testing conditions.

Head rode his luck a bit, but also managed to score at a good rate too.
Cheese
Think the Aussies will be happy with that. Archer nerfed by the conditions and Smith eased himself back in nicely, that's at least a 50 in each of his last 8 Ashes innings. An absolute boss. England have it all to do imo.

It's 10 in a row in red ball tests. The last time he failed was in the pink ball day night test at Adelaide, but he got 2 50s in the match before that.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Hoping to catch some of the opening CPL match tonight. Been missing the top level T20 leagues since the IPL finished. None of this pish Blast nonsense.
Savage Henry
No idea why Overton was selected, but that was a terrific ball to get Labuschaigne. Warner looks completely lost. My money is still on a draw here.

The best thing England can do is try and get Smith out in the small phases of play they’ll get inbetween.
dorlomin
Cricifno reckon Smith is in control of 95% of his shots. Freak.
