Golfers Thread

Bob literally asked for a rules official who came over and said aye no problem that's a free drop after checking the sprinkler head. If his ball is in the middle of the fairway nobody says it's bullshit, the rules don't change if he's in the rough. A stroke of luck, aye, but he's not a cheat.

There’s a lot of  “A sprinkler in the rough? Taking a drop isn’t really in the spirit of the rules” chat suddenly appeared this morning, mostly from Englishers.

Wonder why they are so salty this morning

Anyone complaining about that drop isn't a golfer and/or doesn't know the rules.

The Golfing Gods are primed and ready to shaft us all at every opportunity, so when you get a break like that you take it and run.

Really hoping Bob turns up for his press conference pished and still drinking from the Scottish Open trophy.

All levity and Bob's "We'll get to Troon when we arrive at Troon" comment aside, I really hope that he puts up a good show at The Open, ideally in contention on Sunday.

He's obviously in a rich vein of form atm and it would be madness to jeopardise this by 'partying hard'.

Hopefully Dougie will keep him on the path of righteousness. 🤔

ETA - Bob's season's winnings on PGA Tour now in excess of £7m, according to Bunkered.

It's been postponed until Wednesday. 😂

Some day for it to early doors. Bit chilly now mind you.

Schauffele = guid guy. Signed absolutely everything compared to his playing partners.

Saw Tiger on 12 earlier, hitting the ball well but still walking like a cripple. He'll be gubbed on Thursday if the weather is as bad as forecast.

Stewart Cink, Dan Bradbury and Simo Valamaki added to the good guys who signed everything list.

Monty won the Scottish Open 25 years ago, the last Scot before yesterday. The next British Open was won by Paul Lawrie that same year, the last Scot to win that event. Chances of a Scot lifting the Claret Jug this week?

The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Wikipedia

Every days a school day.

You're right there.

Three best shots I saw today in no particular order.

Valimaki holing out from the bunker at the front of the 12th green.

Lucas Glover holing his second on 18.

Jack McDonald almost aceing 17, honestly don't know how it didn't go in, looked like it ran right over the hole.

Years since I’ve been to Troon. Any tips on best vantage points?
Generally keen to get into a stand and watch the players come through rather than following particular groups.

My general plan I think (never been to any pro event before) is to find a decent vantage point on a tee to watch them absolutely thundercunting drives for a bit, then maybe a greenside at a par 3 for a while, then maybe just wander round. I also plan to get full of the ale
