It was maybe possible to drive the green today, but not normally, it's almost impossible to hold it. If you go long, like he was boasting about doing with a 3wd then you're going to struggle to get up and down. Driving into the valley short just leaves an awkward pitch. Everyone else just driving it 50 yards short and it's a relatively simple short pitch with spin if required. The 13th too. 'I'll just have a wedge in'.
