I wouldn't write off Samoa. I think we should concentrate on that game first and foremost.

Definitely, not only do we need to win but are now under huge pressure to score 4 tries.

And Samoa's physicality will require a twickenham 2nd half performance for the full 80 minutes

We need 2 bonus points win against Samoa and Japan to even stand a chance of going through. Although Samoa could do us a favour it's unlikely

The biggest favour Samoa could do us is probably to take out a few of those Japanese back rowers...

Only thing for it is to get two bonus point wins, try to ramp up the points difference then see where that leaves us going into the Japan game, hoping that neither of them manage a BP v Samoa somehow.
If we can get 10 points we would go into the Japan game knowing exactly what is needed, with Ireland playing Samoa the day before.

Even then that might not be enough if Japan get two or even one bonus point against us (knowing our luck we'd go out on points difference).
Can't, we go through on head to head against Japan if same points as long as we beat them. We can only get 15 points, Ireland will get 16 points so a 3 way head to head won't come into play.

Would help if I checked the tie break rules before commenting. 🙄

Earlier in this thread, I commented that I found it puzzling that in the NZ v South Africa game, the All Blacks were wearing their traditional all-black kit, but the Springboks were in their very dark green shirts and socks, with only their white shorts standing out. I asked why rugby union teams cannot have a clearly different shirt from their opponent. I was slagged for this view, being told ‘can’t you see black and green are different’?

Just turned the telly on, and here’s Namibia in a bright blue ‘Sevco-esque’ kit, but the Springboks are in a white kit - which should have been worn against the All Blacks. The Namibia blue is far more different from the Springboks dark green than the Kiwi’s black is. I’ve seen this before in rugby union, Scotland v NZ at Murrayfield one time being an absolute clusterfcuk. Just wondered aloud why they can’t sort it. Looks like they have for this Namibia v SA game.

I reckon I was absolutely spot-on with my assertion in the NZ v SA game. One of them should have been in a light jersey.
