paul-r-cfc
Thorniewood United 0 - 2 Cumnock Fairly typical pre-season fare. Not a huge amount of quality on show as both teams were clearly still not at full match fitness. Thorniewood had some good chances and forced a great save from the keeper at 0-0 but their number 4 made a mess of his touch when nearly through on goal and not long after that, Cumnock's quality showed and two quick-fire goals won them it.Attendance was about 60 ish from a rough headcount.

Got me out the house anyway and got my season underway. Have to agree with that, not exactly a great venue, but great people involved in running the club.

Killearn did have some chances though but they were very poor at finishing. Deanston could even have scored more, but once they scored their tenth just after the hour mark, they took their strong striker off and were happy with the score. A Corbett and 2 Munros in that photo. I salute you. Edited July 3, 2022 by The Mantis
Craig fae the Vale
Albion Rovers 3-1 Stirling Albion. Game one of the day sees Albion Rovers take 3rd place in the NL Cup pre season tournament. A game devoid of much quality throughout. Two penalties in the first half had Rovers in control before they added a third after the break. A late consolation for Stirling ended the scoring. On thos showing, both teams will be fighting at the wrong end of League Two this season.
Craig fae the Vale
Cumbernauld Colts 0-1 Airdrieonians Game 2 of the day saw Airdrie lift the NL Cup with a team full of trialists thanks to an early Calum Gallagher goal. Decent game to watch.

Marten
Kilwinning Rangers 4-0 Ardrossan Winton RoversUnfortunately not at the main pitch, but the one next to it. Buffs easily the better side in their first pre-season game.
philpy
Finished 2-1 bonnyrigg. Musselburgh were very good and should have been 2-0 up if not for a very dubious offside call.
Craig fae the Vale
St Mirren 1-3 Northampton Town. An even first half, but some poor defending coupled with questionable officiating undid the Buddies after the break. Enjoyable game.
Crow
Musselburgh Athletic 1-2 Bonnyrigg Rose PSF @ Olivebank. A tight 1st half, in fact 70 minutes, before the game came to life. Taylor Black headed in the home side in front before Conor Doan & George Hunter turned it around in Bonnyrigg’s favour late on. Crowd 414. paul-r-cfc
Newmains United 1 - 5 Shotts Bon AccordDecent enough game, with Shotts clearly the far superior team and coming out on top, although the hosts had their moments. Was very confused after their goal which did not look over the line from where I was but Mr Gentiles seemed to have a good view of it.Nice wee compact ground tucked away just up from the village although it was freezing at times. Mad to think it's July.About 60-70 in attendance including the "Pyro Cru" who banged a drum for a bitin the first half then buggered off for the second.

Wanted to take in a league cup match at some point this week but with the train situation my choices were limited to matches I can walk home from. Take it it'll be Hamilton vs Stranraer then!
Marten
Norway 4-1 Northern IrelandSt Mary's Stadium, SouthamptonA much more entertaining game than yesterday. Norway played some excellent football and could have won by more. Credit to the Northern Irish fans though who created a brilliant atmosphere. Much better than England yesterday at Old Trafford.
Connor1874
Triple header for me this week. First games since a certain Cup final back in May so needed cleansed. Tuesday - Musselburgh Athletic 1-2 Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic - Att. c200-300 Good game this, and probably the most enjoyable match of the week. Bonnyrigg didn't impress me as much as I thought they might, and Musselburgh stood up to the task well. Bonnyrigg probably did control much of the game but looked poor in the final 3rd. Mussy playing well on the counter and really came into a game at the start of the 2nd half. Mussy took the lead with about 20-25 to go, and quickly had a 2nd ruled out. This seemed to spur Rose on though who snatched 2 goals in the last 10 minutes to win it, although Mussy came very close at the death to snatching a draw. Wednesday - Spartans 0-1 Heart of Midlothian - Att. c1000 Okay, not really a random game considering I am a Hearts fan, but felt like I had to include it in this post. Was pleasantly surprised to find out on the morning of the match that this would be a first team game. Wasn't expecting a repeat of the 7-0 the night before against East Fife, but it wasn't a great watch. Spartans played some nice football but Hearts generally controlled it. Early goal was all that was worth mentioning. Thursday - Preston Athletic 0-7 Hibernian XI - Att c300 First trip to Pennypit so happy to tick a ground off the list this week. A very youthful Hibs team, albeit skippered by Darren McGregor, coasted through this game. Preston struggled to get out their own half for much of the game. Hibs had chances and worked the keeper in the first half, as well as having 2 penalty claims but it remained 0-0 at the break. Hibs weren't messing about in the second half though. 4 in the first 15 minutes, with another 3 coming later in the second half. Connor Young scoring 4 for the Hibees. Not a game for the neutral, but an enjoyable watch for Hibs fans in attendance.
Sarto Mutiny
Was also at the Preston Athletic v Hibs game. Hibs very impressive especially in the second half. Connor Young looks easily good enough to be getting first team football somewhere (on loan presumably). Decent crowd too
