Was also at the Preston Athletic v Hibs game. Hibs very impressive especially in the second half. Connor Young looks easily good enough to be getting first team football somewhere (on loan presumably). Decent crowd too20220707_192943.jpg

Spain 4-1 Finland
Stadium MK, Milton Keynes
A surprising early goal by Finland made this game very interesting. Spain were clearly the better side but it took until well into the second half for them to score the third and decide the game. Excellent attendance, nearly 17K.

Ardrossan Winton Rovers 2-2 Cumnock Juniors - c150 in attendance.

First ever game watching 2 west of Scotland junior teams and thoroughly enjoyable. Not sure if there’s a massive imbalance in the WoSFL but wouldn’t think Ardrossan were 3 leagues below.

Cumnock awarded an early penalty, saved by the keeper only for Ardrossan to quickly take the lead. Cumnock levelled not long before the break after a fair few chances.

Ardrossan regained the lead from a cracking free kick but Cumnock levelled again shortly after. A draw probably a fair result in the end.

Entry by donation, paid just over £3 in the end. 4 games in 5 days for a grand total of £21! You cannae beat non-league fitba. Cracking weather down in Ayrshire to boot.

Vale of the Leithen 2-3 Heart of Midlothian B @ Victoria Park 🌱, Innerleithen on Wednesday night. Really good Pre-season Friendly with the home side 2-0 up at the break thanks to 2 great strikes. The young Hearts came back strongly in the 2nd half though to win. 🧮 Crowd around 400.

Excellent first half performance from France. This was the last game of a very enjoyable trip. Next game this tournament I'll attend will be the final at Wembley.

Letham 1 Rosyth 3. Seven Acres Park. A pretty uninspiring venue but some really good people involved at Letham. Got me out the house anyway and got my season underway.
Also got a nice Magnum at ht for £1.

Pulling up this post from a few days ago. Used to live close to the ground until very recently.

Its certainly not one of those old football grounds with character thats for sure. (prior to the astro the pitch was always covered in dog mess)

The pitch though is very well used in the community, good value to book and by all accounts difficult to get. in comparison to St Johnstones astro a few mins down the round I believe its about a third of the price to book as well.

Letham pretty much had to move up levels as they'd won the amatuer leagues consecutively  to Bayern Munich levels. Pointless. Last season they struggled a bit, how were they looking based on what you seen?

3-1 flattered Rosyth. The 3rd was a last minute defensive blunder and Letham had spent most of the second half pressing for an equaliser and missed a barrowload of chances. Rosyth scored early and looked comfortable for 20 minutes. Letham came into it but Rosyth scored a second at just the right time and led 2-0 at the break.
It's a tricky one as I know far more about the EOS than the Midlands. I saw most of the teams in Rosyth's conference last season and the standard wasn't great. But they're Tier 7 and Letham are Tier 6.

First game of 2022-23. And it's a classic between Atletico Madrid V Real Madrid from the Bernabeu in La Liga.. Ok who am I kidding. It's Airdrieonians V FC Edinburgh at New Broomfield. 1-1 after 90 minutes. Had to go though on 90 as I had to catch the last train to Glasgow before heading back east to Edinburgh! Just seen Edinburgh won 4-2 on Penalties. Even first half before Airdrie dominanted most of the second half. Hitting the post with a penalty. Edinburgh looked dangerous on the break.

FK Tirana 1-2 F91 Dudelange.

Champions League action at the new national stadium. I was at the final game at the old stadium so it was great to see the new one. Easily one of the best places I've watched football, especially for the dreaded "match day experience". Really nice atmosphere around the stadium, loads of bars and shops built into the ground floor. Bars in the stadium have a view of the pitch and are cheaper than the fancier ones in town. Amazing how many women will watch football in Albania when you actually put female toilets in a stadium.

The stadium itself is probably the best I've been to for acoustics. It was only about a third full but was deafening when I arrived half an hour before kick off. Tirana fans did a great job, never stopping singing even with the tie forlorn. On the pitch they were just a bit shite and Dudelange never looked in trouble. 54f08dc297ce855a16e770e6d1aaedfe.jpg296282873b82cdab6cff6dc5b1a03968.jpgfa2af43276ba50fc65a7cecc1fac7726.jpgd38e71a176ed3b8701c55375de8ce8ba.jpg

Blackburn United vs Wishaw on Saturday in the summer sun.

Entry by donation, any discrepancy between what I gave and the “going rate” was made up for by cleaning out the pie hut. Macaroni pie was immense. Even got a red card in a pre-season friendly for my money!

Got sunburn down my right side driving home and am still sporting a very lop-sided T-shirt tan as a result

Buchlyvie United 3-3 Balfron Rovers
Forth and Endrick League
My 8th ground in this league, nearly complete. Balfron Rovers were easily the better side in the first half and deserved their 3-1 lead at HT. However, in the second half Buchlyvie were better and scored their second to make it exciting. Balfron got tired and started time-wasting. Buchlyvie equalised in stoppage time with a brilliantly played goal.
