If anything it's World Rugby sending a message to it's panels.

Sigh. I'd have some sympathy on this argument about slow motion if it had been a tackle where it was minimal contact or where the guy was very low down late on, but Farrell sees him coming, doesn't wrap and cleans him to the head.
-
Need to see the full judgement but I didn't think you could get mitigation for this which is surprising. Must have been good biscuits!
-
Farrell gets away with one here. The mitigation seems weak as others haven't been able to use that.

Yeah Ashcroft (I think) in fairness did well to continue, but nobody appealing for it just made it feel like a strange one. It was a clear pull, but again I guess it's the consistency of VAR as they can invariably get ignored. I don't think we lack leadership - there are very experienced players right across the team and Fraser, Gogic, Flynn were all on the pitch at one point who could lead. I think we just didn't make the right tactical changes to get going. Our fullbacks were (understandably) gassed and with Dundee going to a 4 in midfield we were outnumbered which left the midfield struggling to both hold the ball and Dundee used the extra body well. We would probably have been better going 5-4-1 and stuffing up the midfield a bit, allowing us to match Dundee a bit more in the wings. It was something we struggled with against Kilmarnock last year so no surprise Docherty switched it. Dundee overall showed enough about them to make you think they'll be competitive in the league and probably right about team gelling. The boy Beck was torn to shreds defensively and they could do with someone clinical and more up for the fight up top than Bakayoko.

I get why VAR didn't think they could award it, but then we got a goal at Pittodrie on VAR which I would say was no more obvious than yesterday and angles were no better. Referee was howling yesterday anyway. Hadn't a clue, was fussy as f**k and gave some awful calls. The best one was the foul on Tiffoney which ended in two bookings for Dundee. Incredible. Dundee's VAR penalty is a foul but you hardly ever see them called really. There is a ton of that going on in the box which doesn't get picked up so annoying when one does! I mean nobody even appealed for a penalty in real time!

VAR in Scottish Football
flyingscot replied to Les Cabbage's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
It was close and from my angle at the game I felt it was over. I get why the lack of a side on view means VAR can't really tell 100%. In saying that it does look like it's probably over and we got one at Pittrodrie last season which looked about the same so who knows how VAR works -
Much easier when the ref is having a mare to keep your head down. We equally don't hear what they are saying so we can't tell they aren't saying something.

Motherwell FC - A Thread For All Seasons

The tagging and cover photo is weird behaviour and seems personal. It's a terrible bit of writing too - the 'Nam Sorth' patter is embarrassing. I've seen better content in the binfire of the Saints v Dundee match thead... Youtube is full of stuff that other people wouldn't find interesting- just don't watch vloggers it if it bothers you. -
Season Ticket Numbers
flyingscot replied to davymoncs's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
The family stand thing is excellent. We took a lot of heat in reducing OF tickets but no need to give away seats to away fans when you can seat your own fans and ticket holders of the future. -
Hibernian v St. Mirren, Sunday 6/8/23
flyingscot replied to Arch Stanton's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Always difficult to rate him as games were only being streamed when he played for us. He had some great games, but sometimes he went completely missing and always thought it was weird United and others were scrambling for his signature -
That 2nd penalty from Nigeria is a howling miss.
-
Was it not the other way round? 2 and 1/2 years since they failed to score in the 2nd half of a test match. They were shite in the 6Ns but scored in 2nd half against us and I remember a consolation via Ireland too.

Sell him, get cash and he's still winning us penalties! Nice to see the BBC reporter phoned that one in from the pub. -
Killie v Rangers
flyingscot replied to deadasdillinger's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Killie look better than last year, but were fairly strong at home then too. For the amount of money in that Rangers side they were pretty poor. -

Carson will be a great signing for Dundee. No idea what on earth went on in the summer, but 6 figures is not to be sniffed at. I do think keeper is an area we've weakened this year. -

I can't see Strain wanting to stay in Scotland to be honest. I think he'd get a decent gig elsewhere comfortably and might be in his interests to wait until being a free agent. -
Sainz should just park it. Norris looks slow as anything.

Seems the Gallagher deal is a decent move for both parties. He was mostly being used off the bench so if we get someone in to compete that's a bonus. Still think we look light in defence and midfield. -
I've read from guys at lower fringes of the tours how difficult it is particularly with travel costs but that is idiocy.

I'm not sure about adding more forward lines - I'd have thought our budget would be better spent on midfield or defence -

Arbroath were utterly atrocious footballing wise. Were more about grappling than anything else. Really should have had more than 4. The change at the end to bring on Greive, Jamieson and Nahmani really upped the pace and was excellent. Difficult to tell how good we were given Arbroath's performance. Hopefully Strain and Kiltie are not badly hurt. Ref struggled the whole game and not sure how Balde the number 25 survived the 90mins I'll never know.
