  1. I don't know who this @cammcco guy is, but he sounds really clever and handsome.
  2. I know I'm being greedy (and frankly unrealistic), but as well as the 2 strikers we've been promised and which we badly need, I'd love to see us sign a creative midfielder as well to give us a bit more invention. We can't always rely on Burke to be the creator as it's too much for him, he's 37 and it's too one dimensional and if Polworth has an off day we don't have a natural replacement for him to be the central playmaker. Anyway, it's a long season and it's early days. Fair play to Caley, they were solid and we were pedestrian.
  3. F Murray looks good, yeah, but Rory gives that trademark McKenzie workrate and effort, which I think we'll need against Caley. I'd be happy with either.
  4. He's decent yeah. Plays in the hole behind the striker and is growing into the role.
  5. We've got every reason to be confident for this one. Home pitch, home crowd and on a decent bit of league form so far. I suspect we will stick with the same team as today if possible.
  6. Fairly run of the mill day at the office. Good away support as ever. Great cross and header for Robinson's 1st. Time seemed to slow down for the 2nd, thought the moment had passed when Robinson didn't hit it 1st time with no one around him, but fair play to him, he took a couple of touches, beat the arriving Accies defenders and then stuck it away. Still think we're a finisher and a midfield creator away from the finished article, but we look a decent side this season. Impressed with Ewan Murray at centre back, he's exactly what we have been needing. Polworth, Haunstrup, Robinson, Burke, Naismith all had good days today, but the keeper Hemming was my MOM with multiple good saves. Unrelated note, but found a handy car park beside Holy Cross school only 2 minutes from the ground.
  7. Looking forward to it. Debating with myself whether to drive or let the train take the strain. Haven't seen much about Accies this summer other than the recent manager news. Usually tight games against Hamilton.
  8. He scored against Hibs in a 2-2 draw, so has instant jambo cred.
  9. We were decent first half, not decent second half. Right result ultimately. TW says we're still in the market for 2 players. I believe both will be forwards. Fingers crossed. Highlight of the game for me was myself and 2 others inadvertently entering the hibs end at the start, singing Killie songs down the front, getting a mouthful from angry hibees before a wee fat steward lassie ran over and excitedly told us "you'll need tae git in yer ain end before ye stert a riot!". She then bollocked every steward in the home stand as she led us out the ground and into the away end.
  10. This thread is an abortion. It's like the land where patter goes to die.
  11. We look short of first choice strikers. Haven't had a lot of time for the raft of new signings to blend yet, but results have been generally positive so far and though I haven't seen enough of the team yet to fully feel invested in them, I am generally satisfied with the signings we've made (aforementioned lack of centre forwards notwithstanding). I don't know much about Ayr's squad as I generally struggle to memorise my own clubs players and results, so never manage to check how other teams are doing, but I'd imagine with it being a derby and the first league game it may be quite a tight game, at least in the early stages. Unless we pull a couple of goalscorers out of the bag in the coming days and then I'd be confident of a home banker.
  12. Poor stream, but a pretty dull game generally. Typical early / pre-season fayre.
  13. Given that it's Drumchapel, that may well be intentional. Huge proddy scheme.
  14. Just seen someone in Drumchapel (of course) offering this masterpiece
  15. I got the day and the team wrong. Nice.
  16. I remember it as an evening game, but I'm a fanny, so could well have been.
  17. Speaking of exceptional Dumbarton goals seen in the flesh; Denis McLaughlin scoring from just over the halfway line at the Rock in a midweek evening game against Shire was superb. My memory is that he hit it first time, but I think it was in the days before the video records, so can't be sure. Also a midweek evening game at the Rock, Bobby Mann who was playing centre half for the opposition (I want to say Montrose or Forfar), scored from almost the length of the pitch as the Dumbarton keeper was off his line.
  18. I don't despise you at all. I can't as I don't know you. We simply have differing views on a topic. That is, after all, the entire point in a forum.
  19. Not working wouldn't remove your mental issues, so it's just another perception issue. It's no good claiming that your life would be great if society was structured differently. It's a complete cop out. You'll never be happy like that. If there are things you want to do in life then either do them or admit to yourself they're only daydreams and move on. There's no reason you can't learn to speak Korean, play the lute or take creative writing classes just because you have a job. You have free time too. Either seek help for the self doubt that's holding you back or don't, but blaming your issues on it being unjust that you have to work because it's holding you back from your life's goals is complete dung.
  20. If you did have universal basic income and didn't need to work, would you actually learn a new language, or skill or instrument? After all, what's stopping you from doing those things currently? Why would you need to stop working to find time for a hobby?
  21. Have to question Tommy Wright's judgement there. He's completely gubbins and a liability. Not much of a statement for a team hoping for promotion. As for him coaching, maybe he could teach them to do the exact opposite of what he would do. Feels like the cheap / lazy / jobs for the boys option.
